FIFA 16 Share Reign FC’s Reed the all-around utility weapon

Reign FC’s outside back has had a bit of a learning year so far in 2015. With the addition of Scottish international Rachel Corsie in the backline, Reed has found herself higher up on the pitch.

 

It’s not uncharted waters for the 25-year-old, as Reed is a player known to make overlapping runs with the midfielders in an effort to add another angle of attack for her team.

 

“It’s been fun and definitely different,” Reed noted of her time on offense. “It’s been a learning experience knowing the different runs to make and positioning to keep.”

 

While Reed feels more at home in defense, her contributions on offense have not gone unnoticed. In Boston on June 21, moments after entering the game, Reed provided the assist on Beverly Yanez’s go-ahead goal.

 

Reed drove to the endline before slotting the perfect pass over to Yanez for the easy tap-in, and would end up being a crucial goal to help Reign FC solidify its first road win of the season.

I definitely watch Megan [Rapinoe] and Bev [Yanez] and I try to learn from them,” Reed adds. “It’s been fun being more offensive-minded and getting into the attack more.”

 

While Reed adds skill and speed to head coach Laura Harvey’s attacking arsenal, she can seamlessly be slotted right back into familiar confines on the opposite end of the pitch. The outside back was a staple member of Reign FC’s 2014 Shield-winning squad and a backline that allowed a league low of 20 goals.

 

Perhaps one of Reed’s biggest plays of the 2014 campaign came against the Portland Thorns, denying forward Christine Sinclair with a goal-line save to keep the match leveled at 0–0 before Reign FC’s Kim Little scored in the 90th minute to seal the deal for the visitors.

 

Reed would come up big in a similar instance during the current campaign in the home match against the Chicago Red Stars, denying Michelle Lomnicki.

 

During Reign FC’s win over the Portland Thorns on July 22, Reed was deployed as an 81st minute substitute to help preserve the 1–0 victory. With six matches left in the regular season, Reed could see time on either side of the pitch.

I think [playing offense] helps my game when I go back to outside back,” notes Reed. “I feel confident that I can go forward and apply some of the things I have learned as a forward to my defensive game as well.”
