Cabal 2: Review Levels 1 - 10

Hello MMOSITE readers and welcome to my CABAL 2 review. This title Is the sequel to Cabal 1 brought to you by ESTgames for the English “global” launch. The game offers full MMORPG experience on the CRYTEK engine. Cabal 2 is currently in Open Beta, and this is my first review on the first 10 levels playing as a priest. Is this game worth your time? Read on to find out!

Introduction and Installation:

I have to be honest. I read the reviews and kept my eye on this game for a while, and everyone seemed to have echoed the same review: “This game is mediocre”, “Cabal 1 fans will be disappointed”, etc… I did not play this game because I was afraid of the Ragnarok 2 effect where a failed sequal is born. I did not play because I was just wrapping up an already mediocre mmorpg (Echo of Soul) and was not in the mood to try bland again. So I let it go. Then I got a bit of a nudge from the inner department here to “test it out, write a review if you want”. So, with nothing else on my plate. I installed. And here is my review!

Installation. It took about 2 hours. It was long. There was a moment you can play the game as the last bit of files download, but I did not want to lag or have file corruption, so I let it run on. I am in the EU, and as of now, there seems to be only one server we are all thrown in (with multiple channels you can hop around in every 3 min cool down time). The installation went fine and I did not have to tweak any files afterwards.

The first thing I was delighted to find was that I was pushing easy 20 FPS on low settings on an older lap top.

Character Creation:

First thing you are presented with is class choice and gender. There is not gender lock. I chose a Male Priest. Choices are: Warrior – Wizard – Force Shielder – Force Blader – Force Archer – Priest

The character creation is nice looking and has a lot of sliders and customization choices. DESPITE that, it felts “compact”. That is, although you can move sliders and set features, the end result is actually not too different than the original preset settings.

Even the “skinny and large” settings do nothing but inflate and shrink the character, and your muscle “skin” stays in place so as skinny as you get, your muscles are still bulging. It feels a little cheap, like it could have been better, even touting the Crytek engine, I was a little disappointed. That said, it is not a shallow and give you enough features to feel satisfied about your choice.
