For anyone who is searching for balance within a program with three center backs, a 3-5-2 is your most effective bet. You've got numbers in midfield, width and two strikers who can link-up with one an additional. The problem comes in full places in defense, and your two wide midfielders could get caught too high up the pitch or come across themselves in two-on-one scenarios when the opposition full-backs fly forward. Appear to work with the 3-5-2 with one particular mobile striker and a single target man up front, but the attacking midfielder is the hub from the group. Your CAM will must hit passes for the strikers and wide players also as dribble past players and even shoot from distance. the two wingers are gonna be my strikers in the 3-5-2 the striker will be my CAM and the two wingbacks will be my widemids (for example people like meunier and Alex sandro) that will leave you with three midfielders, two of which you put into your midfield in the 3-5-2 and the third someone like for example fabinho who you can run as a perfect third CB

Strengths: This formation was overlooked on FIFA 18 (not by us though!) and became ever more popular on FIFA 19. It is now, even years later considered (although not as high as previous versions of the game) as one of the most solid of all the formations. The reason for this is that the 3-5-2, despite only having three defenders, is very solid defensively. It is very compact (2 CDM's mostly help to make it small) which helps in keeping possession, and if playing ultra-defensive or defensive then you will likely have around seven players around the ball to keep the ball and build play from the back.

Weaknesses: There are only a couple of slight negatives we can find with the 3-5-2. The first being in vast areas. We find that sometimes the game can bypass the RM & LM leaving them slightly redundant. They aren't high enough to contribute to the attack, and reasonably often they leave space in behind them for wingers of the opposition to exploit. Secondly, it is the very center of the park. If the 2 CDM's sit deep and the CAM pushes into the attack, this can leave 20/30 yards of space in the very center of the pitch if you come up against a formation with 3 x CM's such as in the 4-3-2-1 creation they can get a lot of space and hurt you.

Key player/position: 2 CDM's. They are crucial to breaking up play as well as being the focal point for starting your attacks. If you have two weak CDM players in this formation, you're setting yourself up for a fall. The defense will be left exposed without two strong, disciplined CDM's.

Most suited style of play: Counter attacking. Soaking up the pressure using the five defenders as well as the CDM's and then attacking with fast, sharp passing
