How to Get and Craft Biomaterials in MW4 DMZ

Biomaterials are an Uncommon crafting ingredient in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ. Players collecting MW4 DMZ Items should prioritize this material early because it is required to unlock Uncommon Ingredient Printing and craft several useful medical items. Unlike Chemicals or Synthetics, Biomaterials must be looted and extracted intact.

How to Get and Craft Biomaterials in MW4 DMZ

Where to Find Biomaterials

The in-game location hint points to hospitals and chemical lockers. There are no guaranteed spawns, so check multiple medical containers during each raid.

  • Mirae General Hospital (F5): Search hospital wards, emergency rooms, and accessible chemical lockers. It is also worth checking nearby medical tents for Binding Catalysts.
  • Clinics: These are useful for repeatable searches. The eight known locations are D3 Tong-il Village, C4 Pyonghwa Village, F4 Cheongun Village, D5 Imjin Suburb, B7 Deadtown, E7 Daesong Ridge, F7 Wolves Stadium, and B5 Chang-san Air Base.
  • Other buildings: Fire stations and police bathrooms may contain medical supplies, but they are secondary searches rather than confirmed Biomaterials locations.

DMZ Level 39 also awards two Biomaterials. This is a useful head start, but it is not enough to unlock the printer upgrade.

How to Unlock Biomaterials Printing

The biggest challenge is collecting the first 20 Biomaterials. The Uncommon Ingredient Printing upgrade requires:

  • 50,000 DMZ Cash
  • 20 Biomaterials
  • 10 High-Tenacity Fibers
  • 5 Comms Modules

You cannot print the first 20 Biomaterials because the recipe only becomes available after purchasing this upgrade. Collect them from Hajin and save them until you have all the other required materials.

Once unlocked, each Biomaterial print costs 20 Synthetics and 20 Chemicals. The upgrade also unlocks printing for Control Units, Detonators, Electronic Sensors, Reactive Metals, and Rigid Synthetics.

Every Biomaterials Recipe and Upgrade

Biomaterials have seven direct uses in the DMZ printer and upgrade system:

UseBiomaterials Required
Uncommon Ingredient Printing20
Dog Tag Case Upgrade I10
Medkit5
Self-Revive Kit5
Durable Gas Mask5
Radiation Blockers3
3-Plate Ballistic Gel Vest10

Some recipes have additional requirements:

  • Medkit: 30 Chemicals and 1 Binding Catalyst. Available at DMZ Level 2.
  • Self-Revive Kit: 1 Stabilized Reagents and 3 Binding Catalysts. Recipe unlocks at Level 48.
  • Durable Gas Mask: 1 High-Tenacity Fiber. You must find and extract its recipe; Level 68 also awards one finished mask.
  • Radiation Blockers: 30 Chemicals per craft. Each dose helps mitigate radiation for 60 seconds.
  • 3-Plate Ballistic Gel Vest: 2 Experimental Compounds and 4 Stabilized Reagents, in addition to 10 Biomaterials.
  • Dog Tag Case Upgrade I: 10 Rigid Synthetics and 10,000 DMZ Cash. It unlocks at Level 20 and adds 20 tag slots.

Remember that Binding Catalysts and Experimental Compounds are separate ingredients. Having enough Biomaterials does not mean you can complete these recipes.

Best Way to Farm Biomaterials

If you still need the initial 20, start with Mirae General Hospital or the clinics around Tong-il Village, Pyonghwa Village, and Cheongun Village. Search chemical lockers first, then check other medical containers before moving to another location.

If the first buildings have limited loot, add Imjin Suburb or Deadtown to your route. Avoid making a dangerous trip to Chang-san Air Base solely for one Uncommon ingredient.

Keep Biomaterials in your backpack until extraction. They do not automatically convert into Chemicals or Synthetics, and selling them early can delay the printing upgrade.

After unlocking Uncommon Ingredient Printing, stop farming Biomaterials unless you need them immediately and have no printing materials available. Printing them with Synthetics and Chemicals is more efficient than repeatedly searching clinics.

Should You Keep or Sell Biomaterials?

Keeping them is generally the better option during early progression. The first 20 unlock six Uncommon ingredient recipes, while additional stacks support Medkits, Self-Revive Kits, Radiation Blockers, and other equipment.

A practical priority is:

  • Save 20 for Uncommon Ingredient Printing.
  • Keep extra Biomaterials for Medkits and their Binding Catalyst requirement.
  • Reserve 10 for Dog Tag Case Upgrade I if you regularly extract Operator tags.
  • Craft the Durable Gas Mask, Self-Revive Kit, and 3-Plate Ballistic Gel Vest when their other materials and recipes are available.

Players who want to make supported progression objectives more convenient can also explore MW4 Bot Lobbies through U4GM, while continuing to collect the ingredients needed for DMZ crafting.

Biomaterials are an important early-game resource in MW4 DMZ. The first 20 must be looted because they are required to unlock Uncommon Ingredient Printing. Mirae General Hospital and the clinics are the main places to search, while DMZ Level 39 provides two additional units.

Once the upgrade is active, print Biomaterials instead of spending raid time searching for every extra stack. Save your Binding Catalysts and other rare ingredients for the recipes that actually need them.
