Goddess of Victory: Nikke is a visually stunning third-person shooter RPG where you command powerful androids called Nikkes in humanity's fight against alien invaders. As a new Commander, the game can feel overwhelming at first — but don’t worry. After spending dozens of hours exploring its systems, optimizing my squad, and earning valuable resources like Gems, here are the top 10 tips I wish I knew when I started.

Top 10 Tips for New Players in Goddess of Victory: Nikke

1. Focus on Campaign Progression Early

Campaign missions unlock key features and help you level up faster. Clearing stages boosts your Outpost income, which generates valuable items like Credits, Battle Data, and Equipment Modules over time. I recommend pushing the campaign as far as you can before hitting a power wall.

2. Use Your Gems Wisely

Gems are the game’s premium currency and are quite precious. Don’t waste them on refreshing stamina or unnecessary pulls. Instead, save them for banner events where you can target powerful limited-time Nikkes. From experience, pulling on standard banners without a plan rarely feels rewarding.

3. Build a Balanced Team

A strong squad isn’t just about power levels. Your team should include:

  • One defender (to tank damage)
  • Two attackers (to deal burst or sustained DPS)
  • One or two support/healers

Early on, Rapi, Anis, and Diesel are solid free units. I combined them with better pulls later, but their utility in the beginning was unmatched.

4. Prioritize Burst Skill Synergy

Each Nikke has a Burst Skill that contributes to a 3-phase burst chain. You’ll need one Nikke of each type:

  • Burst I (support/defense)
  • Burst II (balance)
  • Burst III (DPS)

If your chain is broken, your damage output tanks. I learned this the hard way during boss fights where missing a Burst I role meant guaranteed failure.

5. Don’t Over-Invest in Early Units

It’s tempting to max out your first few Nikkes, but resources are limited. Avoid over-committing until you pull top-tier units from recruitment events. I regretted spending upgrade materials on characters I replaced within a week.

6. Join a Union (Guild)

Unions offer daily rewards, exclusive events, and a community of players you can learn from. Being part of a good Union helped me stay motivated and kept me updated on new strategies. Plus, Union Raids are a great way to test your team’s performance.

7. Use Simulation Room and Interception Daily

These modes offer essential upgrade materials and gear. Simulation Room teaches you how to counter specific enemies, and Interception can reward high-tier equipment, especially as your power increases. I make sure to never skip them — even on busy days.

8. Enhance and Equip Gear Smartly

Gear plays a huge role in boosting your power rating. Focus on equipping SR or SSR gear with bonuses that match your Nikke's role. For instance, equip defense mods on tanks and attack mods on DPS. I saw massive improvements just by switching to role-appropriate gear.

9. Use Gems for 10-Pulls, Not Singles

You get a guaranteed SR or higher every 10-pull. Spending 3000 Gems at once ensures better value than pulling 10 singles. When I started saving for 10-pulls, I noticed significantly better luck, especially during rate-up banners.

10. Check Events and Login Bonuses Daily

Events offer free pulls, upgrade materials, and even free Nikkes. Daily logins and limited-time missions can yield Gems, tickets, and exclusive items. I make it a habit to check every day, even if I don’t have time for full play sessions.

Starting strong in Goddess of Victory: Nikke means understanding the value of your resources, especially Gems, and building a well-rounded team. By progressing the campaign steadily, joining a Union, and engaging with daily content, you’ll set yourself up for long-term success.

As someone who started casually but quickly got hooked, these tips helped me avoid early mistakes and enjoy the game without stress — and yes, I finally pulled my dream SSR unit thanks to smart Gem savings!
