Last Epoch is an action RPG where pushing your character’s corruption level is key to unlocking better gear and progressing through challenging content. With recent updates, there are new efficient methods to farm corruption quickly, and understanding these can significantly enhance your gameplay experience.
What Is Corruption in Last Epoch?
Corruption is a core progression mechanic added in the Monolith of Fate endgame. By defeating timeline bosses and Shades of Orobyss, players consume stacks of Gaze of Orobyss to increase their overall Corruption level. Higher Corruption unlocks tougher Monoliths with better rewards—making it essential for power-gaming builds and farming endgame uniques.
Corruption: A global metric tracked across all characters sharing your stash.
Gaze of Orobyss: Stacks earned by killing timeline bosses; up to four stacks per boss fight.
Shade of Orobyss: Special mini-bosses that consume all current Gaze stacks to grant bonus Corruption.
Stability: Progress within a timeline; required to unlock and repeatedly fight its boss for Gaze.
Why You Should Push Corruption
Access Better Loot: Higher Corruption brackets drop rarer uniques and exalted items.
Efficient Farming: Optimized boss spamming yields faster upgrades than random map runs.
Higher Difficulty: Challenge yourself and maximize endgame build potential.
Key Items for Fast Corruption Progression
To accelerate your Corruption gains, you need three moving parts:
1. Glyphs of Envy
Source: Random drops in Empowered Monoliths.
Effect: Instantly grants Stability toward the most recent completed timeline node.
Usage: Spam Glyphs of Envy to quickly unlock the boss door without running every map node.
2. Harbinger's Needle
Source: Drops from defeated harbingers after timeline boss fights.
Effect: Breaks on boss kill (Corruption ≥ 90), granting +3 Gaze of Orobyss instead of one.
Usage: Equip in an open slot so each boss kill counts as four—maximizing Gaze stacks per run.
3. Weaver’s Web & Confluence of Oblivion
Weaver’s Web Nodes: In the Weaver Mastery tree, invest in Confluence of Oblivion.
Effect: Upon completing a new Web of Echoes node, spawns Shades of Orobyss regardless of timeline distance.
Usage: Ensures you can frequently fight Shades (and consume Gaze stacks) without expanding the timeline.
Step-by-Step Guide to Pushing Corruption
1. Enter an Empowered Monolith and run nodes until you reach your target timeline (e.g., Age of Winter).
2. Use Glyphs of Envy on the latest nodes:
Spam 3–4 Glyphs to gain enough Stability to unlock the boss immediately.
3. Equip a Harbinger's Needle:
Slot it to break and convert each boss kill into 4 Gaze of Orobyss.
4. Kill the Timeline Boss:
Defeat the boss to acquire Gaze stacks.
Optionally fight the Harbinger first to refund needles and Glyphs.
5. Expand Echo Web via Weaver’s Web:
Complete any adjacent node to trigger Confluence of Oblivion, spawning Shades.
6. Defeat Shade(s) of Orobyss:
All Gaze stacks are consumed, granting Corruption per stack (up to 4 per Shade).
7. Repeat the Loop:
Portal back, consume new Glyphs and Needles, and rinse-and-repeat until you hit your desired Corruption tier.
Crafting Tips for Better Gear
While pushing Corruption, optimize your gear with these runes:
Rune of Havoc:
Shuffles tiers of non-sealed affixes on any Exalted item with four non-sealed affixes.
Use to transfer a high-tier roll (e.g., Tier 7 Crit Multiplier) onto your primary skill mod.
Rune of Refinement:
Rerolls values of all affixes within their tier ranges.
Buy below-max rolls cheaply (e.g., Helmet with 21% Health) and refine upward toward the cap (e.g., 26% Health).
By combining fast Corruption loops with targeted crafting, you’ll continually upgrade your DPS and survivability—enabling you to tackle ever-higher Corruption levels and farm endgame uniques more efficiently. If you don't have enough gold at the time of crafting, then the last epoch gold for sale in U4GM will help you, which will save you a lot of time in farming.
