Ted Williams Fights For His Spot on the God Squad

Hey everyone, it's your boy here – been playing MLB The Show since like 2010, back when Diamond Dynasty was just getting off the ground and we were all hyped about pulling a decent gold card. Fast forward to 2025, and man, the game's evolved into this beast where building a true God Squad feels like assembling the Avengers, but with way more drama over who starts in left field. I've sunk countless hours into grinding for stubs, completing collections, and battling in Ranked Seasons. And let me tell you, sometimes you gotta cut corners to stay competitive – that's why I always hit up U4GM to buy MLB The Show 25 stubs. They're super reliable, prices are fair, and it saves me from farming mini-seasons for days just to afford that one key legend. If you're like me and don't have all day to grind, check 'em out – it's a game-changer.

Now, onto the main event: Ted Williams, the Splendid Splinter himself, scrapping for a permanent spot on my God Squad. Look, Ted's 99 Hall of Fame card from the Legends and Flashbacks Collection is straight-up nasty. We're talking a lefty hitter with 125 contact against both righties and lefties – that's maxed out, folks. He crushes right-handed pitching with 125 power, and even against southpaws, he's got 100 power, which ain't shabby at all. Vision at 120 means he sees the ball like it's the size of a beach ball, discipline at 125 so he draws walks like it's his job (which it kinda was in real life), and clutch at 125? The guy's a monster in big moments. Add in quirks like Dead Red for demolishing fastballs, Breaking Ball Hitter for hanging with curves and sliders, Bad Ball Hitter so he can swing at junk outside the zone and still rope it, and Rally Monkey for those RISP situations – it's like the devs built him to be a hitting god.

But here's where the fight comes in. In MLB The Show 25, the outfield meta is brutal this year. You've got modern beasts like Mike Trout, who's basically a cheat code in center with his speed, power, and defense all cranked to 11. Then there's Aaron Judge towering in right, mashing homers left and right, or Juan Soto with that silky swing and plate discipline that rivals Ted's. Don't even get me started on other legends – Willie Mays with his all-around game, Babe Ruth if you're flexing that DH/OF eligibility, or even newer drops like that 99 Bobby Abreu or whoever's hot in the latest promo. Ted's ranked #1 among left fielders on sites like ShowDD, but his speed's only 68, stealing at 12 (dude's not swiping bags anytime soon), and baserunning aggression at 16. Fielding's solid at 80 with a 78 arm strength, but in a God Squad where everyone's expecting Gold Glove-level D, he can get exposed on those gap shots or when you're playing online against sweats who bunt and steal like maniacs.

I've been testing him out in my lineup for weeks now. In one Ranked game, Ted went 4-for-4 with two dingers off a guy's ace – felt like 1941 all over again. But then against a lefty-heavy rotation, his power dips a bit, and I found myself subbing in someone like Cody Bellinger or Kerry Carpenter for better matchups or speed on the bases. It's that power creep in 25; by mid-summer with the Summer Series promo dropping even more 99s, everyone's squad is stacked. Ted's a collection reward, so grinding (or buying stubs via U4GM to speed up packs and marketplace buys) is key to unlocking him without NMS purgatory.

Is he worth the fight? Hell yeah. If you're building around pure hitting – maybe with a captain like Masataka Yoshida for those extra power and vision boosts – Ted locks down left field and turns your offense into a nightmare for pitchers. Pair him with speed demons in center and right, and you've got balance. But in this meta, no spot's guaranteed; you've gotta earn it every update. I've swapped him in and out, but lately, he's sticking around because, c'mon, it's Ted freakin' Williams – the last guy to hit .400. If you're a vet like me, grab some stubs from U4GM, complete that collection, and give him a shot. Who knows, he might just secure that God Squad throne for good.

What do you think? Is Ted a must-start or bench warmer in your squad? Play ball!
