Choosing the right class in Aion 2 can have a major impact on your PvE experience, especially when moving into challenging content such as Nightmare, Awakening, Transcendence, and Subjugation. Each class brings a different combination of damage, survivability, mobility, healing, defensive utility, and party support.
To get a clearer picture of the current PvE meta, this tier list examines the top 100 characters from Taiwan and Korea across four major PvE categories. That produces a sample of 800 high-end characters, providing a useful snapshot of which classes are currently appearing most often among strong PvE performers.
However, class representation should not be interpreted as a pure DPS ranking. Some classes earn their place through damage, while others provide tanking, healing, buffs, recovery, or other forms of group utility.

The data covers the top 100 characters in each of four major PvE activities across both Taiwan and Korea:
| PvE Content | Main Performance Factors |
|---|---|
| Nightmare | Solo damage, survivability, clear speed, mechanic handling |
| Awakening | Boss damage, clear speed, solo consistency |
| Transcendence | Group DPS, survivability, utility, boss control |
| Subjugation | Party stability, survivability, boss execution, death prevention |
The four categories also emphasize different aspects of class performance.
Nightmare and Awakening place more emphasis on individual performance. Players need to deal substantial damage while handling mechanics themselves, making mobility, survivability, and reliable damage uptime particularly valuable.
Transcendence and Subjugation place greater emphasis on coordinated group performance. Tanks, healers, buffers, and classes capable of maintaining consistent uptime become increasingly important.
Subjugation is particularly demanding because unnecessary deaths can significantly damage a group’s attempt. A class with slightly lower theoretical damage can therefore provide tremendous value if it helps the entire party survive and maintain consistent output.
Based on the 800-character leaderboard sample and the characteristics of each class, the current PvE tiers can be summarized as follows:
| Tier | Class | Leaderboard Appearances | Main Strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Ranger | 152 | Ranged damage, mobility, uptime |
| S | Gladiator | 128 | Sustained damage, durability, stagger |
| A+ | Chanter | 106 | Buffs, utility, offensive support |
| A | Templar | 105 | Tanking, aggro control, survivability |
| A | Cleric | 101 | Healing, protection, recovery |
| B | Assassin | 91 | Burst damage, mobility, execution |
| C | Sorcerer | 83 | Ranged magic damage, AoE |
| D | Spiritmaster | 34 | Summons, control, sustained pressure |
The numbers represent appearances among the 800 selected leaderboard positions rather than the total population of each class.
The Gladiator is one of the most well-rounded PvE classes in Aion 2 and earned an S-tier position in this analysis.
The class appeared 128 times out of 800, making it the second-most represented class in the sample. More importantly, Gladiator combines several characteristics that are useful across virtually every major PvE environment.
Its core strengths include:
· Strong sustained melee damage
· Good stagger pressure
· High durability
· Defensive and recovery tools
· Reliable melee uptime
· Strong performance in both solo and group content
Gladiator is not completely dependent on a single burst window. Instead, it is designed around remaining on the target and maintaining pressure.
That makes the class particularly forgiving when mechanics interrupt an encounter. In Nightmare and Awakening, a Gladiator can continue dealing damage while absorbing mistakes that might force a more fragile DPS class to disengage.
The same characteristics carry over into group content.
In Transcendence and Subjugation, Gladiator can provide damage, stagger, frontline pressure, and durability without requiring the entire party composition to revolve around the class.
This combination makes Gladiator one of the safest all-around choices for players who want a class capable of contributing in multiple PvE situations.
Ranger recorded the highest representation in the entire dataset with 152 appearances, making it the most common class among the 800 selected leaderboard characters.
Its strength comes from a combination of ranged physical damage, mobility, positioning, and consistent uptime.
One of Ranger’s biggest advantages is its ability to continue attacking when encounter mechanics force melee classes to disengage.
For example, if an area attack appears underneath the boss, a melee character may need to move away before returning to the target. A Ranger can often reposition while continuing to attack.
That distinction is extremely important for leaderboard PvE.
Theoretical DPS against a stationary target does not always translate into real encounter DPS. Bosses move, mechanics force players to reposition, and dangerous areas can temporarily prevent melee attacks.
Ranger can often lose less damage during these transitions.
| Ranger Advantage | PvE Impact |
|---|---|
| Ranged physical damage | Safer damage positioning |
| High mobility | Easier mechanic handling |
| Strong positioning | Less downtime during movement |
| Consistent uptime | Better real-world encounter damage |
| Solo capability | Strong Nightmare/Awakening performance |
| Group compatibility | Reliable Transcendence/Subjugation contribution |
The class’s combination of damage, mobility, and consistency explains why it appeared more frequently than any other class in the sample.
Chanter appeared 106 times, placing it just ahead of Templar in the leaderboard sample.
Its biggest strength is that personal DPS does not fully represent its contribution.
Chanter functions as an offensive support class, combining combat contribution with buffs, utility, and recovery. Rather than simply competing with dedicated DPS classes, it can improve the performance of an entire party.
This becomes particularly valuable in Transcendence and Subjugation.
A strong Chanter can help a group:
· Maintain offensive pressure
· Improve overall consistency
· Recover from mistakes
· Sustain longer encounters
· Increase the effectiveness of other players
· Handle difficult group mechanics more reliably
The value of these contributions can be difficult to see on a personal damage meter.
If one player’s buffs improve the output of several other members, the Chanter’s actual contribution to the clear can be considerably larger than its individual DPS suggests.
The primary limitation appears in solo content. Nightmare and Awakening naturally reduce the value of party-wide support because there are fewer players who can benefit from those abilities.
Nevertheless, its 106 leaderboard appearances demonstrate strong high-end PvE representation.
Templar appeared 105 times and remains one of the strongest choices for organized group PvE.
As the dedicated tank, Templar specializes in:
· Aggro management
· Boss positioning
· Damage mitigation
· Frontline durability
· Encounter control
· Creating safer conditions for teammates
Boss positioning can have an enormous effect on group efficiency.
When a boss constantly turns, moves, or forces players to reposition, melee DPS can lose uptime while ranged players and healers have to continuously adjust.
A capable Templar helps make encounters more predictable.
This benefits almost everyone in the party. Melee classes receive more consistent access to the boss, ranged players have a clearer positioning reference, and healers can manage incoming damage more efficiently.
Subjugation further increases the importance of this role because deaths and failed mechanics can significantly reduce the value of an otherwise strong run.
Templar’s primary weakness is solo performance.
Nightmare and Awakening reward personal clear speed, while Templar’s greatest advantages are designed around protecting and controlling a group.
Consequently, its overall tier is slightly lower than it might be in a group-only PvE ranking.
Cleric appeared 101 times among the 800 leaderboard characters.
As the strongest dedicated recovery class in this comparison, Cleric provides:
· Healing
· Protection
· Cleansing
· Resurrection
· Encounter stabilization
· Party recovery
These abilities become extremely valuable during progression.
When players are learning a boss, operating with imperfect equipment, or still developing their mechanical execution, recovery tools can prevent a single mistake from ending the attempt.
This is particularly important in Subjugation, where avoiding unnecessary deaths can be more valuable than gaining a small amount of additional personal DPS.
However, optimized leaderboard groups often change the value of healing.
Once players know an encounter extremely well, they can avoid much of the incoming damage altogether. At that point, offensive uptime and clear speed can become more important than having extensive recovery capabilities.
Cleric therefore has different levels of value depending on the situation.
| Situation | Cleric Value |
|---|---|
| Learning encounters | Very high |
| Progression groups | Very high |
| Subjugation | Very high |
| Optimized speed clears | Moderate to high |
| Solo content | Safe and consistent, but slower |
Its 101 appearances nevertheless show that dedicated recovery remains highly relevant at the upper levels of PvE.
Assassin recorded 91 appearances, placing it in B tier in this overall PvE analysis.
This placement should not be interpreted as meaning Assassin has low damage potential.
Quite the opposite: Assassin can have an extremely high damage ceiling when played correctly.
Its gameplay revolves around:
· Burst damage windows
· Positioning
· Mobility
· Combos
· Melee uptime
· Encounter knowledge
· Precise execution
When an Assassin can remain active against a boss and execute its rotation correctly, the results can be excellent.
This makes the class particularly attractive for experienced players who understand boss patterns and know exactly when to commit to damage.
The problem is consistency.
Because Assassin operates in melee range, mistakes can be more costly than they are for classes with greater range or durability. Being forced away from the boss during an important damage window can significantly reduce actual output.
That becomes especially important in Subjugation, where dying can affect the entire group.
Therefore, Assassin’s B-tier placement is primarily about overall consistency across four PvE categories, rather than its maximum possible damage.
A highly skilled Assassin player can potentially outperform the general expectations suggested by the leaderboard representation.
Sorcerer appeared 83 times, putting it into C tier in this analysis.
Sorcerer has clear strengths. It is a ranged magic damage class capable of delivering substantial pressure and area damage while maintaining distance from the boss.
The problem is that its ideal damage conditions are not always present in difficult PvE encounters.
Sorcerer generally benefits from:
· Stable casting windows
· Predictable boss positioning
· Extended opportunities to cast
· Stationary targets
· Effective area damage opportunities
However, mechanics can interrupt those conditions.
Constant movement, repositioning, interrupted casts, and difficult mechanics can reduce actual damage uptime.
This is the central distinction between theoretical and practical DPS.
A class might produce impressive numbers against a stationary target, but if an encounter repeatedly forces the player to stop casting, move, or change position, actual performance can be considerably lower.
Sorcerer is still capable of clearing difficult PvE content, as demonstrated by its 83 appearances in the sample.
Its lower position simply reflects the fact that other classes currently provide more consistent combinations of uptime, survivability, mobility, or group utility.
Spiritmaster is the largest statistical outlier in the dataset.
It appeared only 34 times out of 800, compared with 83 appearances for Sorcerer, the next-lowest class.
That represents a substantial difference.
| Class | Appearances | Difference vs. Spiritmaster |
|---|---|---|
| Spiritmaster | 34 | — |
| Sorcerer | 83 | +49 |
| Assassin | 91 | +57 |
| Cleric | 101 | +67 |
| Templar | 105 | +71 |
| Chanter | 106 | +72 |
| Gladiator | 128 | +94 |
| Ranger | 152 | +118 |
Spiritmaster has an interesting toolkit built around summons, sustained damage, debuffs, control, and utility.
For casual solo play, that combination can be comfortable and enjoyable.
Competitive leaderboard PvE is a different environment, however.
Spiritmaster’s performance can become more complicated when boss movement affects summon positioning or when controlling enemies provides limited value against bosses that cannot be meaningfully controlled.
The class also has to manage several components of its toolkit simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the four measured leaderboard categories strongly reward:
· Fast boss damage
· Predictable uptime
· Efficient rotations
· Reliable group contribution
· Strong survivability
· Consistent execution
The 34 appearances therefore make Spiritmaster the clearest statistical underperformer in this particular dataset.
That does not mean the class cannot clear difficult content. It means that, based on the current leaderboard sample, it has considerably less representation among the highest-performing characters.
One of the most important conclusions from this dataset is that PvE class strength cannot be reduced to damage numbers alone.
The eight classes succeed for different reasons.
| Class | Primary PvE Identity | Biggest Advantage | Main Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ranger | Ranged DPS | Damage uptime and mobility | Requires good positioning |
| Gladiator | Melee DPS | Durability and sustained pressure | Melee range |
| Chanter | Offensive support | Party-wide utility | Reduced solo utility |
| Templar | Tank | Boss control and mitigation | Lower solo damage |
| Cleric | Healer | Recovery and protection | Less valuable when damage is avoided |
| Assassin | Burst melee DPS | High damage ceiling | Execution and uptime |
| Sorcerer | Ranged magic DPS | Strong ranged damage | Casting interruptions |
| Spiritmaster | Summoner | Versatility and control | Lower leaderboard representation |
This is also important when deciding how to prepare your character.
Having enough Aion 2 Items for your build can help you focus on improving the specific attributes your class needs, whether that means offensive power, survivability, or utility. However, equipment alone cannot compensate for poor encounter knowledge or inefficient execution.
The leaderboard provides useful information, but it should not dictate everyone’s class choice.
If you prefer aggressive melee gameplay, Gladiator or Assassin may be appealing for very different reasons. Gladiator emphasizes sustained pressure and durability, while Assassin places greater emphasis on execution and burst windows.
Players who prefer ranged combat may find Ranger or Sorcerer more suitable. Ranger emphasizes mobility and consistent uptime, whereas Sorcerer rewards players who can maximize casting opportunities.
For group-oriented players, Templar, Chanter, and Cleric each offer a different role:
· Templar: Control the fight and protect the party.
· Chanter: Enhance party performance through offensive support and utility.
· Cleric: Keep teammates alive and stabilize difficult encounters.
Spiritmaster is a particularly interesting option for players who enjoy summons and managing a more complex toolkit, even though its current leaderboard representation is much lower.
The current data suggests that consistent damage uptime is one of the most important factors shared by successful classes.
Knowing your rotation is only one part of PvE performance. You also need to know when to attack, when to move, how to handle mechanics, and how to maintain your contribution without creating unnecessary risks for your party.
This is why mobility, durability, positioning, and utility can sometimes matter as much as raw damage.
For players looking to accelerate character progression, managing your in-game economy is another part of preparation. Whether you are upgrading equipment, improving your build, or looking for specific Aion 2 Kinah, efficient resource management can make it easier to keep your character prepared for increasingly difficult content.
The 800-character dataset gives us a useful snapshot of high-end PvE activity across Taiwan and Korea.
Ranger and Gladiator stand out because they combine reliable damage with strong practical uptime and survivability. Templar, Chanter, and Cleric demonstrate how important group utility remains in difficult content. Assassin has considerable potential but demands stronger execution, while Sorcerer can struggle when mechanics interfere with casting.
Spiritmaster is the most notable statistical outlier, with only 34 appearances.
Ultimately, though, leaderboard representation is only one way of evaluating a class. A skilled player who understands a class’s rotation, cooldowns, positioning, and encounter mechanics can get significantly more value from it than a player simply following a tier list.
The strongest class for you is therefore not necessarily the one with the highest representation. It is the one whose mechanics, role, and playstyle you can execute consistently enough to make the most of its strengths.
As Aion 2 receives balance changes and new PvE content, these class standings can also shift considerably. A major buff, nerf, new equipment set, or encounter mechanic could change which classes perform best in future leaderboard seasons.
