The Frozen Trail update introduces Weapon Amplification, a new late-game progression system in ARC Raiders. Instead of simply increasing a weapon's basic stats, Amplification adds a fifth quality level and gives supported weapons new upgrade paths that can change how they behave. As you gather resources and ARC Raiders BluePrints, it becomes easier to plan which weapons are worth investing in for your preferred loadout.
This makes the system especially interesting for Raiders who already have favorite weapons but want more ways to customize their loadouts. With resources being limited, however, it is worth understanding how the system works before investing in your first amplified weapon.
What Is Weapon Amplification?
Weapon Amplification is a new upgrade system available for 15 existing weapons at launch. It becomes available through the fully upgraded Research Workstation in the Outpost.
An amplified weapon reaches the fifth quality level. Rather than simply receiving a standard stat increase, it gains access to a branching set of abilities and enhancements. These options can change important characteristics of the weapon and give it a different role in combat.
The developers have highlighted several examples:
Burletta: Can be modified for fully automatic fire.
Renegade: Can receive a scope.
Rattler: Can gain incendiary ammunition or a larger magazine.
The Rattler is particularly interesting because its amplification options can give it either more sustained ammunition capacity or a different damage option.
The path to Weapon Amplification starts at the new Outpost.
Frozen Trail introduces the Outpost as a new personal space for Raiders. It also provides access to the Research Workstation, which is used for higher levels of weapon customization.
After gaining access to the Outpost, build the Research Workstation. This station is the foundation of the Weapon Amplification system.
Weapon Amplification requires the Research Workstation to be fully upgraded. Once that requirement is met, you can access the fifth quality level for supported weapons.
Amplification is not simply a button that makes every weapon stronger. You need to research the relevant upgrades and collect the rare materials required to apply them.
This means your early resources are better spent on the weapons you actually intend to use.
Where to Get Amplification Materials
The new Frozen Trail activities are closely connected to Weapon Amplification materials. The Frigate and the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass are important parts of the new endgame content surrounding the system.
Because the complete costs and progression requirements can vary between weapons, it is better to check the Research Workstation before spending resources rather than farming materials without a specific upgrade in mind.
There is also an important consideration when looting amplified weapons from other Raiders. An amplified weapon recovered from a downed player can have heavily reduced durability, and repairing or crafting that weapon may require you to have researched its corresponding amplification yourself.
The best first weapon depends on what you normally carry into raids. Weapon Amplification is designed to give existing weapons new roles, so the strongest choice on paper is not necessarily the best choice for every player.
The Rattler is one of the most interesting options because its available amplification paths can significantly change how the weapon is used.
The larger magazine is useful for players who value sustained fire, while the incendiary option provides another way to build the weapon around damage output.
The Renegade is a strong choice for players who prefer fighting from range. Giving it access to a scope changes how the weapon can be used and makes it more suitable for players who want a clearer long-range sight picture.
The Burletta is worth considering if you prefer aggressive close-range engagements. A fully automatic version gives the weapon a very different feel and can make it more suitable for players who want faster follow-up shots.
How to Choose Your First Amplification
Do not feel pressured to amplify several weapons immediately. A better approach is to focus on one or two guns that already fit your playstyle.
What About Stiletto and Bantam?
Frozen Trail also introduces the Stiletto and Bantam. These are new weapons designed to expand the early-game arsenal, but they are not part of the initial 15-weapon Amplification rollout.
That means players interested in Weapon Amplification should focus their resources on the currently supported weapons rather than expecting every new Frozen Trail weapon to have a Quality V path immediately.
Weapon Amplification is more than another rarity upgrade. Its main purpose is to let Raiders reshape familiar weapons and give them new roles.
Upgrade your Research Workstation, decide which weapons you actually use, and then focus your materials on upgrades that match your playstyle. The Rattler, Renegade, and Burletta are good examples of how dramatically an amplified weapon can change without becoming an entirely different gun.
With more weapons planned for future updates, learning how the system works now should also make it easier to decide where your resources are worth spending as the arsenal continues to expand.
