Diablo 4 Season 14 has entered the real endgame grind. Most players have already reached max level, completed their main build, and collected their core Unique Diablo 4 items. But the hardest part is just beginning.

Your damage looks good, but you still struggle in high-tier Pit runs. Your Masterworking materials disappear after a few unlucky upgrades. Even worse, your perfect 3 Greater Affix item can become useless because Tempering refuses to give you the right stat.

Best Stygian Stone Farming Routes in Season 14

Stygian Stones are one of the most important resources for endgame players because they are needed for powerful Tormented boss summons. However, many players waste hours farming inefficient activities.

The biggest mistake is always chasing the highest difficulty.

A higher Pit tier does not automatically mean better efficiency. If a run takes too long, your rewards per hour will actually become worse.

The best strategy is simple:

Farm the highest Pit level you can clear in around 2-3 minutes.

Fast clears give you more runs, more chances at valuable drops, and better overall efficiency.

For many builds, a comfortable speed farming range is better than struggling through extreme tiers.

Use Helltide and Group Rotations

Helltide remains one of the best activities for collecting multiple resources at once.

A good farming route:

Collect Cinders quickly
Open valuable Helltide chests
Complete event objectives nearby
Join boss material rotations

Group farming is especially useful for endgame players.

Many players use the “AA rotation” method:

One player provides the summon materials
The group kills the boss together
Another player takes the next turn

This allows one set of materials to create multiple boss kills, making every Stygian Stone much more valuable.

Masterworking Material Farming: Speed Beats Difficulty

After you finally get your ideal gear, Masterworking becomes the next major challenge.

Many players make the mistake of farming the hardest Pit possible, but the better question is:

How many materials can I earn per hour?

A fast and consistent run usually beats a slow high-tier clear.

Recommended Farming Strategy

Pit TierBest Use
Tier 60-70Starting endgame builds
Tier 80-90Best balance of speed and rewards
Tier 100+Fully optimized builds only

For most players, Tier 80-90 speed farming is the sweet spot.

The goal is not to prove you can clear the highest tier. The goal is to collect enough materials to upgrade your entire build.

Tips to Increase Masterworking Efficiency

Before entering the Pit:

  • Use movement skills whenever possible
  • Focus on elite groups instead of every monster
  • Skip bad maps with poor layouts
  • Avoid unnecessary backtracking

A fast farming build with slightly less damage can often earn more materials than a slower “stronger” build.

Popular Tempering Tricks

1. Use Throwaway Gear First

Some players prepare cheap D4 items and Temper them before touching their best equipment.

The idea is to “burn” unlucky rolls on useless gear before using valuable items.

2. Stop Chasing Perfect Rolls

The most important Tempering advice is knowing when to stop.

If your item already has:

Strong affixes
A useful Temper
Good upgrade potential

sometimes it is better to keep it instead of risking everything.

A good item is always better than a destroyed item.

Season 14 endgame is about smart farming, not endless grinding.

Choose efficient Pit tiers instead of blindly pushing higher. Use group rotations to maximize Stygian Stones. Upgrade your gear carefully and do not let the search for perfection destroy a great item.
