With Diablo 4 Season 15 expected to arrive around September 15, 2026, Season 14 players are entering the final preparation window. The remaining weeks of Season of Death Awakening are the perfect time to clean up your seasonal character, use up temporary resources, and prepare for a smoother start next season.

Before planning your next move, there is one important thing to remember: your Season 14 seasonal character does not carry most items into Season 15.

Gear, keys, materials, gold, Obols, and Pandemonium Fragments will remain with your character when it moves to the Eternal Realm. The things that matter long-term are account-wide unlocks, including exploration progress, Altars of Lilith, Renown rewards, mounts, cosmetics, and other permanent bonuses.

The goal before Season 15 is simple: turn seasonal resources into power now instead of saving Diablo 4 items that will disappear.

Spend These Resources Before Season 14 Ends

Use Every Superior Lair Key

Superior Lair Keys should be your highest priority.

Spend them on the Corrupted Reaper while the current season is active. These keys provide some of the best Mythic Unique opportunities available right now, but they will not help your Season 15 character.

Leaving unused keys behind means leaving potential upgrades on the table.

Convert Pandemonium Fragments

Pandemonium Fragments are another seasonal resource that should not be saved.

Use them to chase Mythics, Resplendent Sparks, or any remaining upgrades you need before the season ends. These materials have no value for a fresh Season 15 character.

Open All Seasonal Caches

Do not leave seasonal rewards sitting unopened.

Make sure to claim:

Glints of Hope caches
Season reputation caches
Any remaining reward caches from seasonal activities

Opening these rewards before the season ends ensures you receive the maximum possible value from your current character.

Spend Obols and Mythic Tributes

Obols do not transfer to your new seasonal character, so use them before the reset.

Mythic Tributes should also be spent while boosted activities and current farming routes remain available, especially through Undercity runs.

What Is Worth Preparing for Season 15?

Complete the Season Journey

Finishing the Season Journey should be one of your biggest goals before Season 15.

The Smoldering Ashes rewards provide Season Blessings that improve progression through bonuses such as:

Increased experience gains
Better gold efficiency
Improved material rewards

Having these rewards ready will give you a faster start when the new season begins.

Practice Gold and Material Farming

Season 15 is expected to introduce more resource-heavy systems, including additional Mythic upgrades and Soul Splinter progression.

Current Season 14 farming methods, such as:

Nightmare Dungeon Escalations
Infernal Hordes
High-efficiency gold routes

will still be valuable skills going into the next season.

Learning efficient farming routes now means less time wasted after launch.

Prepare Your Rebirth Character

Season 15 introduces the Rebirth feature, allowing players to convert an Eternal Realm character into a seasonal character.

The character will return to level 1 and lose gear, but it keeps important identity features, including:

Character name
Appearance
Class
Cosmetics
Mounts
Pets
Playtime history

Before Season 15 begins:

Move important items into your Eternal stash.
Decide which character you want to continue using.
Prepare your preferred appearance and cosmetics.
Be ready to use Rebirth immediately on launch day.

Take Advantage of Final XP Boost Events

If Mother’s Blessing remains active near the end of Season 14, it will be one of the best opportunities to finish remaining goals.

Use the bonus period to:

Complete Season Journey objectives
Level additional characters
Practice farming routes
Build up gold reserves

Things You Should Avoid Before Season 15

Some mistakes are common during the final weeks of a season.

Avoid:

Saving large amounts of Superior Lair Keys or Pandemonium Fragments.
Leaving reputation and seasonal caches unopened.
Expecting Season 14 gear to help your Season 15 character.
Spending too much time perfecting temporary gear instead of preparing for the reset.

Final Season 14 Preparation Timeline

Now Until Late August

Focus on:

Using Superior Lair Keys
Spending Pandemonium Fragments
Completing the Season Journey
Practicing efficient farming routes

Early September Until Season 15 Launch

Finish your final preparations:

Clear remaining seasonal resources
Organize your Eternal Realm stash
Select your Rebirth character
Review the final Season 15 announcements before launch

The best way to finish Season 14 is not to save everything — it is to spend smartly.

Turn temporary seasonal resources into permanent progress by completing the Season Journey, improving your farming efficiency, and preparing your Rebirth character ahead of time.

Players who enter Season 15 with completed rewards, used resources, and a clear starting plan will have a major advantage over those still holding onto items that cannot transfer.
