Season 15 gives Diablo 4 players more control over how they approach the endgame through War Plans. Instead of simply jumping between random activities, you can build a chain of up to five activities and use Activity Points to customize how those activities work. With the right setup, War Plans can be tailored around Mythic Unique farming, crafting D4 materials, Lair Keys, or experience and Paragon progression.
The important part is choosing the right nodes for your current goal. A character that needs Mythics does not need the same setup as one pushing Paragon levels, while a material-starved character can benefit from a completely different route.
Here is a practical breakdown of the three main War Plans approaches for Season 15.
How War Plans Work in Season 15
War Plans can include Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, the Undercity, Lair Bosses, Infernal Hordes, and the Pit. A War Plan can contain up to five activities, and completing them in order creates a continuous endgame farming loop.
As you play, activities award progression toward their individual Activity Trees. Those points unlock modifiers that change the rewards or mechanics of the selected activity.
Whispers work differently. They can overlap with another selected activity instead of occupying one of the five normal activity slots, making Whisper-related nodes useful for players who want additional rewards without changing their main farming route.
Season 15 also introduces shared War Plans progression for eligible characters. Characters must match across the Seasonal or Eternal, Hardcore or Non-Hardcore, and Normal or Solo Self-Found partitions. The progression is shared, but each character has its own War Plan allocation. This makes it possible to build one character for Mythic farming and another for XP without starting the entire progression again.
Route One: Mythic and Endgame Gear Farming
For players mainly hunting Mythic Uniques and high-end gear, the strongest War Plan foundation comes from the Undercity, Lair Bosses, and Helltide trees.
For the Undercity, Jade Epiphany is an important node if you also want experience while farming. Endless Swarm and Gutter Filth can then be used to add more activity-specific opportunities as you continue investing in the tree.
The Lair Boss tree is another major part of a Mythic-focused setup. Two by Two and the Greater Nemesis path are useful starting points for players who spend a large part of their time farming bosses. Lair of Runes and Lair of Plenty are additional options when you want to push the rewards from repeated Lair Boss runs.
Helltide is valuable as a supporting activity, particularly because Hellmouth leads into Writhe and Rot. This combination changes how Hellwyrms behave and can make Helltide a strong source of both experience and Lair Keys.
A practical Mythic-focused War Plan can therefore revolve around:
Undercity → Lair Bosses → Helltide → Lair Bosses → Undercity
This setup works best when your character already has enough damage and survivability to clear these activities quickly.
Route Two: Materials and Keys
Players who are constantly running out of crafting materials, Lair Keys, or other endgame resources should build their War Plan differently.
The Nightmare Dungeon tree is particularly useful because Nightmare Escalations allow you to target different reward types. The key node here is Branching Pathways, which gives you additional choices when progressing through an Escalation. This makes it easier to select the reward type that matches your current shortage.
For Helltides, Hellmouth → Writhe and Rot is again an excellent route. Writhe and Rot is especially useful for players who want to turn Helltide into a reliable source of Lair Keys while also gaining experience.
The Tree of Whispers can provide another layer of flexibility. Tree of Plenty increases the number of choices available when selecting Whisper Caches, while additional Whispers nodes can further improve the value of this supporting system.
A solid material-focused setup is:
Nightmare Dungeon → Helltide → Lair Boss → Nightmare Dungeon → Helltide
If your character is short on a particular crafting resource, use Branching Pathways to steer Nightmare Escalations toward the reward type you need instead of relying entirely on random drops.
Route Three: XP and Paragon
For players whose primary goal is leveling and Paragon progression, the War Plan priority changes considerably.
The most important combination is Hellmouth + Writhe and Rot in the Helltide tree. Writhe and Rot causes Hellwyrms to produce Maggots rather than randomly cycling through their normal options. Maggots provide Experience Orbs when defeated, making this route particularly valuable for experience farming.
The Undercity is another strong option. Jade Epiphany provides additional Experience Orbs when gaining Attunement, while other Undercity nodes can increase the number of enemies and additional encounters during a run.
For players combining XP farming with gear progression, The Pit can also be included. Choron's Haste and the other Pit-related nodes can support repeated Pit runs, especially when Glyph progression is part of the goal.
An XP-focused War Plan can look like:
Helltide → Undercity → Helltide → The Pit → Undercity
The exact order is less important than making sure the activities you select match your character's clearing speed. A theoretically strong XP node is not very useful if the activity takes significantly longer for your build than an alternative.
Best War Plan Route by Goal
| Goal | Main Activities | Important Nodes |
| Mythic Farming | Undercity, Lair Bosses, Helltide | Jade Epiphany, Gutter Filth, Lair of Plenty |
| Materials & Keys | Nightmare Dungeons, Helltide, Lair Bosses | Branching Pathways, Writhe and Rot |
| XP & Paragon | Helltide, Undercity, The Pit | Hellmouth, Writhe and Rot, Jade Epiphany |
How to Use War Plans Across Multiple Characters
Shared progression is especially useful for players running several characters in Season 15.
Your main character can specialize in Mythic and boss farming, while an alt can use its own planner for XP or materials. Because the progression level is shared between eligible characters, you do not have to repeat the entire War Plans progression just to try another specialization.
This also means you should not treat one War Plan allocation as permanent. Your priorities naturally change during the season. Early on, XP and materials may matter most. Later, once your character is fully leveled and geared, Mythic and boss farming can become the main focus.
Remember that War Plans should match your character's build. Fast-clearing characters can get much more value from activity chains than slower builds, even when both characters use the same nodes.
Final S15 War Plans Recommendation
For Mythic and high-end diablo 4 items farming, build around the Undercity, Lair Bosses, and Helltide trees.
For materials and Lair Keys, prioritize Nightmare Escalations with Branching Pathways and combine them with the Helltide Writhe and Rot route.
For XP and Paragon progression, focus heavily on Hellmouth and Writhe and Rot, then add Undercity and The Pit according to your build and farming speed.
The key to War Plans in Season 15 is not unlocking every node. It is building a plan around the reward you need most right now. As your character moves from leveling to gearing and eventually Mythic farming, changing your War Plan allocation can keep your endgame runs efficient throughout the season.
