Season 15: Season of Hell’s Legacy brings back some of the most recognizable locations and characters from Diablo history. One of the most interesting secret activities eventually leads to a recreation of Old Tristram and a final battle against three iconic Prime Evils.
The main reward is the Hellfire Torch, a Mythic Unique Charm with powerful bonuses and an additional Unique Charm slot, making it one of the most interesting Diablo 4 Items to target in Season 15. Getting it requires several steps, including collecting Deckard’s Journals, unlocking Deckard’s Memory, farming Prime Evil Splinters, crafting Wirt’s Lucky Coin, and defeating Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto together.
Here is the complete process.
1. What You Need Before Starting
Before beginning the Hellfire Torch hunt, make sure your seasonal character has progressed far enough to handle the required content.
You should have:
Completed the required Season 15 progression.
Unlocked the Horadric Cube.
Reached Torment X for Prime Evil Splinter farming.
A strong endgame build with reliable damage and defenses.
Enough survivability for a three-boss encounter.
The final fight is designed for powerful endgame characters, so there is little reason to rush into it with an undergeared build.
2. Collect All 10 Deckard’s Journals
The first major objective is collecting the 10 Deckard’s Journals scattered throughout Sanctuary.
The journals are found across several regions, including:
Fractured Peaks
Scosglen
Dry Steppes
Kehjistan
Hawezar
Look for the green interaction marker on your minimap when you are close to a journal. Some are located near familiar landmarks, while others require a little exploration.
You need to interact with all ten journals to complete this part of the chain.
After collecting them, return to Deckard Cain in the Imperial Library. Speaking with Cain unlocks Deckard’s Memory, which provides access to the next stage of the event.
3. Farm the Three Prime Evil Splinters
The next step is collecting three different Prime Evil Splinters:
Splinter of Terror — Echo of Diablo
Splinter of Destruction — Echo of Baal
Splinter of Hatred — Echo of Mephisto
These encounters become part of the high-level seasonal farming loop.
The associated encounters include:
Tristram Cathedral — Echo of Diablo
Worldstone Chamber — Echo of Baal
Durance of Hate — Echo of Mephisto
Prime Evil Splinters are not guaranteed drops, so you may need to repeat an encounter before obtaining the Splinter you need.
Your goal is simply to collect one of each type.
4. Craft Wirt’s Lucky Coin
Once you have all three Splinters, take them to the Horadric Cube.
You need:
1 Splinter of Terror
1 Splinter of Destruction
1 Splinter of Hatred
Place all three in the Cube and transmute them.
The result is Wirt’s Lucky Coin.
The three Splinters are consumed during the recipe, so make sure you are ready to continue before crafting the Coin.
5. Enter Old Tristram
With Deckard’s Memory unlocked, use the available portal to enter the recreation of Old Tristram.
The area is designed as a tribute to the original Diablo, but the important objective is the fountain in the center of town.
Carry Wirt’s Lucky Coin in your inventory and interact with the fountain.
The Coin is consumed when the interaction succeeds, opening the portal to the final encounter.
The Wirt’s Lucky Coin Fountain Bug
Earlier in Season 15, a bug could cause the fountain to consume Wirt’s Lucky Coin without opening the portal.
This issue was fixed in a Season 15 hotfix on September 22, 2026.
On the current version, the fountain should properly open the portal after the Coin is consumed. If the interaction does not work as expected, avoid immediately spending another set of Prime Evil Splinters.
6. Enter Echo of Tristram
The successful fountain interaction opens a red portal to Echo of Tristram, the encounter commonly referred to by players as Uber Tristram.
Inside, you face three Prime Evils:
Echo of Diablo
Echo of Baal
Echo of Mephisto
Unlike the earlier individual encounters, all three bosses are part of the final encounter. Their attacks can overlap, making positioning and defensive management especially important.
Before entering, make sure your build has:
Strong elemental resistances
Reliable defensive skills
Good mobility
Consistent single-target damage
Stable resource generation
Enough survivability for simultaneous boss mechanics
The fight is much easier when you can maintain damage while avoiding overlapping attacks rather than focusing purely on maximum burst.
7. Hellfire Torch Stats and Effects
The main reward from Echo of Tristram is the Hellfire Torch, a Mythic Unique Charm.
Its core bonuses can include:
+10–20% All Stats
+10–20% Resistance to All Elements
+1–4 to All Skills
Can equip 1 additional Unique Charm
The Torch can also provide a +1 Set Count effect connected to one of the class-specific Talisman sets.
This Set Count effect is particularly valuable for specialized endgame setups. It can contribute toward a set breakpoint without requiring you to equip another actual Set Charm.
The additional Unique Charm slot also gives players more flexibility when combining powerful Charm effects.
8. How to Build Around the Hellfire Torch
The ideal Torch depends heavily on your class, build, and the Set Count effect it rolls.
For general progression, the most broadly useful bonuses are its All Stats, All Resistances, All Skills, and additional Unique Charm slot.
Once a build becomes more specialized, however, the Set Count can become much more important.
A Torch that matches the Talisman set you are already building around can provide considerably more value than one tied to a set that does not fit your setup.
Because of this, getting a Hellfire Torch is only the beginning. Finding a roll that fits your final build can become another long-term endgame goal.
9. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need all three Splinters?
Yes. You need one Splinter of Terror, one Splinter of Destruction, and one Splinter of Hatred to craft Wirt’s Lucky Coin.
Can I enter Old Tristram without the Coin?
You can access Old Tristram after unlocking Deckard’s Memory, but Wirt’s Lucky Coin is required to activate the fountain and open the portal to Echo of Tristram.
Do Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto fight together?
Yes. Echo of Tristram features Echo of Diablo, Echo of Baal, and Echo of Mephisto as the final encounter.
Are Splinters guaranteed?
No. You may need to repeat the corresponding Prime Evil encounter until the required Splinter drops.
Is Hellfire Torch guaranteed?
The Hellfire Torch is the primary reward associated with Echo of Tristram, but individual Torch rolls can vary. The Set Count effect and other affixes determine how well a particular Torch fits your build.
Is Echo of Tristram the Cow Level?
No. Echo of Tristram is a separate secret endgame encounter built around the classic Tristram and Pandemonium themes.
The Hellfire Torch quest in Diablo 4 Season 15 is a multi-step journey, but the progression is straightforward once you know the order.
Collect all 10 Deckard’s Journals → unlock Deckard’s Memory → farm the three Prime Evil Splinters → craft Wirt’s Lucky Coin → activate the fountain in Old Tristram → enter Echo of Tristram → defeat Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto.
The reward is more than a nostalgia trip. With All Stats, All Resistances, All Skills, an additional Unique Charm slot, and a class-specific Set Count effect, the Hellfire Torch can become an important part of a fully optimized Season 15 Talisman setup.
