Hey folks, if you've been keeping your eyes on Dune: Awakening, you already know the spice must flow—but so does the blood. Whether you're out there soaking up Dune Awakening Solari or skirmishing in the Deep Desert, PvP in Dune: Awakening is a whole beast of its own. As someone who's spent a solid chunk of time dodging sandworms and chasing spice blooms, let me break down what you need to know about PvP—and why it's way more than just a side mode.

Dune Awakening PvP Guide

Is PvP Forced in Dune Awakening?

Nope. You’re not getting jumped in a safe zone while picking flowers. PvP only happens in specific zones, and the game gives you clear warnings when you’re about to cross into danger territory. For example:

  • Hagga Basin: Mostly PvE, perfect for chill survival, base building, and story progression.
  • Deep Desert: PvP central. Think of it as the Wild West of Arrakis—no rules, just spice and survival.

Even better, if you’re not into PvP, you can 100% avoid it… but heads up: that means slower access to high-end resources like valuable Solari and rare crafting materials.

What About Base Raiding?

Base raiding is not a free-for-all, thank Shai-Hulud. Your Holtzman-shielded base is safe from PvP destruction—unless you slack off and let that shield drop. Plus, some special sandstorms in the Deep Desert can disable shields for a short time. If you're not online when that hits… well, someone might pay your place a visit.

But in general, the devs at Funcom are steering PvP away from griefing and toward open-field conflicts—stuff like resource wars, spice control, and guild territory fights.

Do You Lose All Your Stuff in PvP?

Not really. Here’s the deal:

  • You only drop spice, Solari (the game’s currency), and some resources when you die in PvP.
  • Equipped gear just takes durability hits.
  • In PvE zones, only you can pick up your dropped loot. In PvP zones, anyone can.
  • Sandworms are the real looters—they’ll eat you and all your stuff. If that happens, you respawn totally naked.

BUT—and this is huge—guilds can vote in the Landsraad to temporarily activate "The Right of Salvage." That means full-loot PvP for a whole week in the Deep Desert. High risk, insane reward. Better be ready if that vote passes.

PvP Zone Types – What to Expect

Zone TypePvP Allowed?What Happens
Protected ZonesSafe hubs like Arrakeen. Craft, trade, chill. No combat allowed.
Limited Warfare Zones⚠️PvE by default, but PvP can trigger during spice blooms or faction contracts.
War of Assassins ZonesFull-on PvP. Think Deep Desert—guild wars, territory clashes, mounted battles.

Reputation Matters

Here’s a twist you might not expect in a survival MMO: Your actions in PvP affect your rep with NPC factions. Kill someone in a protected area or break faction contracts? Expect some doors to close—vendors, missions, even access to political systems like the Landsraad.

Play it smart, and you can gain influence that gives your guild a real edge—both in war and diplomacy.

:Should You Bother with PvP?

If you're here to experience all that Dune: Awakening has to offer—yes. PvP brings life to the sandbox. Whether you're fighting for control of spice fields, defending a caravan, or flexing your Solari stash in a zone-wide war, PvP makes the world feel alive.

But if you’re a chill solo player? You’re still in good hands. PvE is rich, layered, and 100% viable for progression.

Just know this: the Deep Desert is calling. And the spice? It’s always worth the risk.
