Hero Siege Season 10 is now live, and players pushing beyond the basic level cap have a new reason to optimize their farming routes. Once Hero Level progression becomes the main goal, simply clearing random zones is no longer the most efficient approach.

The current farming strategy focuses on the Ether Tree, Colossal Chest events and the Bloating monsters that can spawn from them. With the right setup, Misty Swamp has become one of the most popular locations for repeatedly farming EXP and earning Hero Siege Gold along the way.

The Colossal Chest EXP Strategy

The core of this method starts with the Ready to Pop node in the Ether Tree.

According to current Season 10 farming guides, Ready to Pop gives monsters spawned from Colossal Chests a 50% chance to spawn with Bloating. These Bloating enemies are valuable for experience farming because they can drop large amounts of EXP orbs when killed.

The strategy is therefore less about completing a full map and more about reducing the time between Colossal Chest encounters.

The basic idea is simple:

Find the chest → trigger the encounter → kill the Bloating monsters → collect EXP → reset → repeat

Ether Tree Setup

Ready to Pop is the essential starting point, but it is not the only useful investment.

Players looking to specialize in this farming method should prioritize nodes that make Colossal Chest encounters easier to locate. Current guides specifically recommend improving discovery range and eventually taking Abominable Clairvoyance, which helps with detecting Colossal Chest events.

A practical priority looks like this:

NodePriorityPurpose
Ready to PopEssentialEnables the Bloating interaction
Discovery RangeHighHelps locate events faster
Abominable ClairvoyanceHighImproves Colossal Chest detection
Other farming nodesOptionalAdd according to your build

There is no need to invest every available point into this strategy immediately. If your character is still struggling to clear the content, damage, movement speed and survivability can provide better returns first.

Why Misty Swamp?

Misty Swamp is currently one of the most commonly recommended locations for this farming loop. Other areas can also spawn Colossal Chest events, including King's Garden and several other zones, so the strategy is not permanently tied to one map.

Misty Swamp is popular because the objective is easy to understand: enter the zone, check for the event and decide quickly whether the run is worth continuing.

If the chest is inconveniently positioned or the run is otherwise inefficient, reset instead of spending several minutes clearing normal enemies.

The Fast Farming Loop

Once your Ether Tree is prepared, the loop should remain extremely simple.

Enter Misty Swamp. Start by checking for a useful Colossal Chest location.

Decide quickly. If reaching the event takes too long or the setup is poor, reset and try again.

Trigger the chest encounter. Activate the available mechanics and focus on the resulting enemy pack.

Prioritize Bloating monsters. These are the main reason this strategy is attractive for EXP farming.

Collect the EXP orbs. Do not waste time looting Hero Siege Items if your only objective is Hero Level progression.

Reset immediately. Once the valuable EXP has been collected, start another run rather than clearing the rest of the map.

The entire strategy is built around minimizing downtime.

Is This Better Than Normal Farming?

For pure Hero Level experience, the Colossal Chest approach is currently one of the strongest community-recommended methods. However, it is not automatically the best choice for every character.

MethodEXP FocusDifficultyBest For
Colossal Chest farmingVery HighBuild dependentFast Hero Levels
Chaos TowerMediumModerateEXP plus other progression
Normal mappingLow-MediumFlexibleGeneral progression
Boss farmingLow-MediumBuild dependentBoss loot and progression

The main advantage of Colossal Chest farming is specialization. Normal mapping gives you a mixture of EXP, equipment and materials, while this method is designed around getting through high-value enemy encounters as quickly as possible.

When You Should Not Force It

Speed farming only works when your character can actually maintain the pace.

If your build takes too long to kill the spawned enemies, the theoretical EXP advantage can disappear. The same is true if you die frequently or spend too much time searching for the event.

In that situation, move to an easier farming area and focus on consistent clears. A slightly slower run that you can repeat without deaths or long downtime is usually better than repeatedly failing a high-level route.

Movement speed is also important because every second spent traveling between encounters reduces your overall EXP efficiency.

Season 10 Changes Make Farming More Important

Season 10 introduced Act 9 Ebontharn, the Ether Tree and the new Abyssal Chest system, while also expanding progression with more nodes and new endgame content. The Ether Tree can be invested into to improve access to specific mechanics, giving players more control over specialized farming strategies.

Recent patches have also adjusted Season 10 systems. For example, Patch 7.0.2 increased Abyssal Chest Magic Find on Hell and Inferno difficulties, while Patch 7.0.5 fixed an issue that could prevent Abyssal Chests from opening.

That means players should keep an eye on future balance changes before assuming that one EXP route will remain optimal for the entire season.

The Best Approach Right Now

For players focused specifically on Hero Level progression, the current Colossal Chest strategy is worth testing.

Build around Ready to Pop, improve your ability to locate Colossal Chests, use Misty Swamp as a primary farming location and reset aggressively when a run is inefficient.

The important part is not simply finding a Colossal Chest. It is completing the entire cycle as quickly as possible.

Find the event, spawn the high-value enemies, collect the EXP and reset.

That simple loop is currently one of the most effective ways for Season 10 players to turn Ether Tree investment into faster Hero Level progression.
