Classes and Skills

Chronomancer: Still a disappointment. “Fs in chat for the ascendancy I was looking forward to most pre-release.”

Invoker: Light nerfs. “Should still be good assuming ES wasn’t nerfed into the ground.”

Stormweaver: Took a heavy hit. “Losing the 4% mana small nodes is roooooough.”

Mana Costs: Reduced across the board for attacks, marks, and warcries. “Maybe now we can max out our Ice Strike gems without bricking our whole build.”

General Changes

Portal Count: Players now get the standard six portals earlier in the game, though the number decreases deeper into the endgame. “WE HAVE OUR PORTALS BACK BABY!”

Towers and Tablets: Less micromanagement. “It was a pain.”

Corruption Areas: Don’t scale +1 Area Level by default anymore but are more likely to have modifiers. “I wonder if that means they've rebalanced where perfect jewelers' orbs drop.”

Logout Cheese: Fixed. “Poor hardcore players.”

Ailments: Players are now more vulnerable, and freeze buildup takes longer. “Oooooooof.”

Stun Duration: Tripled to 3 seconds. “Grimace emoji.”

Conversion Mechanics: Overhauled. “RIP Everlasting Gaze ammy.”

Dodge Roll: Improved to avoid getting boxed in by mobs.

Checkpoint and Travel Tweaks: Faster travel and less mission drag (especially in Act 2).

Passive Tree Overhaul

Jewel Sockets: 12 removed. “HAHAHAHHAHA removing jewel sockets from the passive tree cause everyone was abusing the Adorned. Gottem.”

Key Nodes: Nerfs across the board—Eldritch Battery now doubles mana cost, and nodes like Falcon Technique and Spaghettification took hits.

Specific Skill Nerfs

Hexblast: “Got haaaaaammered.”

Lightning Conduit: 80% damage reduction. “Still probably good lol.”

Freeze Mechanics: Major changes.

Support Skills: Flame Wall, Spark, Raging Spirits, Detonate Dead, Lightning Rod, Offerings, Tempest Bell—all nerfed. “All hammered.”

Mana Tempest: Finally got some love. “I knew it wasn't working! I wasn’t crazy!”

Summoner and Minion Changes

Minion Damage/Health: Scaled down at high levels.

Summon Raging Spirits: Fewer spirits per cast, less scaling, hurts Cast on Minion Death builds.

Scepters: Max roll for +Minion Skills reduced, and quality no longer scales Spirit bonus.

Item & Economy Changes

Chase Uniques: Heavily nerfed—Astramentis, Ingenuity, Howa, Everlasting Gaze. “All hammered.”

Rune Tiers: Introduced. “Now give us a goddamn stash tab for them.”

Crossbows: Buffed. “Maybe someone will actually shoot one now instead of just using it as a grenade stat stick.”

Endgame & Mapping

Pinnacle Bosses: Now require half the grind to unlock. “Huge change… it was so grindy to get those first breachstones/simulacra.”

XP Farms: Dreadnought XP strat got nerfed. “RIP speedrunners.”

Campaign Flow: Fast travel improved, some mission pacing tightened.

What It All Means

Adderson sums up the vibe: “All the fun mechanical fights got overwhelmed by our broken builds.”

Grinding Gear Games clearly wants Path of Exile 2’s endgame to be more challenging and less like the speedrun playground PoE 1 became. As players reached high-tier maps, the game lost that tense, strategic edge. GGG is aiming to bring it back—by nerfing pretty much everything.

Yes, the nerfs hurt. But once players get over the initial shock of their broken builds getting crushed, they might just discover a more balanced and rewarding PoE 2 experience.

Now if you’ll excuse me, Russell just dashed back into a portal muttering about fractured orbs and cackling madly. Time to roll a new build.
