The Lucky Escape Skill is one of the more challenging driving skills to complete in Forza Horizon 6 because it requires precise timing and vehicle control. Rather than simply drifting or avoiding traffic, you must combine two different skills simultaneously: Drift and Near Miss.
If you’re working through the “Get Lucky” Daily Challenge during the Horizon Decades Spring Festival Playlist, this guide will walk you through the fastest and most reliable way to unlock the Lucky Escape Skill.
A Lucky Escape is awarded when you trigger both of the following at exactly the same time:
· Drift Skill – Your car must be sliding sideways.
· Near Miss Skill – You must pass extremely close to a traffic vehicle without making contact.
The key is performing a controlled drift while narrowly avoiding an AI traffic car. Since both skills have to activate together, timing is much more important than speed alone.

For the “Get Lucky” Daily Challenge, you’ll also need to meet one additional condition:
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Festival Playlist | Horizon Decades Spring Festival |
| Daily Challenge | Get Lucky |
| Vehicle Restriction | Any car manufactured between2010–2019 |
| Objective | Earn one Lucky Escape Skill |
While any eligible 2010s vehicle can complete the objective, drift-oriented cars make the process significantly easier.
| Car | Why It’s Recommended |
|---|---|
| Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5 | Excellent drift angle and easy throttle control |
| Aston Martin DB11 (Drift Tune) | Stable at high speed with predictable slides |
| Formula Drift Cars (2010s) | Maximum drift control for experienced players |
If you have access to upgraded tuning setups or additional Forza Horizon 6 Credits, investing in a proper drift build can make completing seasonal objectives much more efficient.
First, select a car produced between 2010 and 2019. Since you’ll need to break traction quickly, a drift-focused setup is highly recommended.
Open the pause menu and switch from Horizon Life to Horizon Solo.
This is one of the biggest time-savers because offline mode generates significantly more civilian traffic, giving you many more opportunities to earn Near Miss skills.
The easiest locations include:
· Long highways
· Wide city boulevards
· Tokyo City Region roads
· Any straight section with steady AI traffic
These roads provide plenty of space to initiate a drift while approaching traffic.
Instead of following traffic, drive in the opposite lane.
Approaching oncoming vehicles increases the likelihood that the game will register a Near Miss.
Just before reaching an oncoming traffic vehicle:
1. Pull the handbrake (E-brake).
2. Turn sharply into the slide.
3. Keep the side of your car extremely close to the passing vehicle.
Avoid over-rotating the car, as excessive angle often leads to collisions.
As your drift carries you past the traffic car:
· Stay inches away from the vehicle.
· Do not clip mirrors.
· Avoid barriers and guardrails.
If both skills activate simultaneously, you’ll immediately see the Lucky Escape notification appear.
Many players struggle because one of the required skills doesn’t trigger. Here are the most common reasons:
| Mistake | Result |
|---|---|
| Driving too slowly | Near Miss doesn’t register |
| Drift begins too early | Skills activate separately |
| Passing too far away | No Near Miss Skill |
| Hitting traffic | Skill chain ends immediately |
| Using low-grip tires | Harder to maintain a controlled slide |
Small adjustments to timing often make a much bigger difference than changing cars.
To improve your success rate:
· Use manual handbrake initiation instead of relying on power oversteer.
· Practice on long straight roads before attempting the challenge.
· Keep traction control disabled if you’re comfortable drifting.
· Enter the drift slightly later than you think.
· Stay committed to the slide—abrupt steering corrections can cancel the Drift Skill.
If you’re completing multiple Festival Playlist objectives, maintaining a well-equipped garage with upgraded vehicles purchased using FH6 Credits can reduce preparation time and make seasonal challenges much easier.
Once you’ve mastered Lucky Escape, several other advanced skills become much easier to complete.
| Skill | Combination |
|---|---|
| Ultimate Drift | Long continuous drift |
| Ultimate Near Miss | Multiple Near Misses in succession |
| Daredevil | Three Near Misses without crashing |
| Threading the Needle | Near Misses on both sides simultaneously |
Learning these combinations will also improve your Skill Score chains and Festival Playlist efficiency.
The Lucky Escape Skill can seem intimidating at first, but it’s largely a matter of preparation and timing. Using a capable drift car from the 2010s, switching to Horizon Solo for increased traffic, and practicing on long, open roads will dramatically improve your chances of success. After a few attempts, earning this skill becomes much more consistent, helping you complete the “Get Lucky” Daily Challenge and continue progressing through the Horizon Decades Spring Festival Playlist with confidence.
