Over the past week, we’ve received several exciting updates for both College Football 26 and Madden 26, two of the most anticipated sports games set to launch this summer. While each piece of news may have seemed small on its own, together they give us a much clearer picture of what to expect from EA Sports’ next football titles.
One of the biggest critiques of College Football 25 was its underwhelming commentary, especially from ESPN’s Chris Fowler. Fans noted that his in-game voiceovers lacked the excitement he’s known for during real-life broadcasts.
That looks to be changing in College Football 26. This week, Chris Fowler posted a behind-the-scenes video revealing that he’s re-recorded over 150 new touchdown calls with more energy and passion. Examples include hyped-up shouts like:
“Touchdown Thundering Herd!”
“Touchdown Green Wave!”
“Touchdown Hilltoppers!”
It’s clear EA Sports is putting effort into improving the broadcast atmosphere for College Football 26, and that’s something fans have been asking for.
Additionally, ESPN’s Kevin Connors also teased new recordings with a post captioned “Back in the lab,” showing that multiple commentators are returning to enhance the in-game presentation.
Madden 26 is also stepping up its broadcast game. One of the most notable updates this week is that NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson will be featured as a new in-game voice.
While EA hasn’t officially detailed his role yet, Insider Gaming suggests that Hanson might appear in pre-game intros or halftime segments. His inclusion may not be massive, but it’s a welcome addition and could be a hint that Madden is revamping its halftime show—something fans have long been hoping for.
Hanson is reportedly recording now during spring, which implies his role will be limited but impactful. He might even replace Jonathan Coachman, who has been doing brief in-game updates for years.
In major platform news, it’s been confirmed that Madden 26 will be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. This is huge, as Madden has never previously appeared on a Nintendo Switch console.
The Switch 2 is expected to offer more power and realism than its predecessor, making it an ideal fit for EA’s football franchises. While there’s no confirmation yet that College Football 26 will also launch on the Switch 2, it’s likely to follow.
EA previously said it’s looking to bring College Football to more platforms. With the Switch 2 hosting Madden 26, it's only a matter of time before College Football joins it—if not this year, possibly next.
