The Diamond Dynasty meta has changed as more 99 OVR cards have entered MLB The Show 26. At this point in the year, the highest overall rating does not always mean the best card for online play. Contact, vision, switch hitting, defense, speed, and pitch mix can all make a major difference.

For players building a competitive God Squad in September, these are some of the strongest options to consider.

Best DD Lineup Options

Catcher is one of the easiest positions to build around Victor Martinez because of his switch-hitting ability. Jorge Posada is another strong option for players who prefer a similar approach.

The middle infield deserves special attention. Troy Tulowitzki remains an excellent shortstop option, while Ozzie Smith provides elite defensive value. Elly De La Cruz is a different type of choice, offering speed and offensive upside.

Carlos Beltran is one of the most complete center-field options available, combining switch hitting, defense, and speed. Jac Caglianone is also worth considering after his 99 OVR August Lightning card was added to the game. His ability to play right field, left field, and first base gives lineups more flexibility.

Best Starting Pitchers

Pedro Martinez, Jacob Misiorowski, Tarik Skubal, Johan Santana, and CC Sabathia are among the pitchers worth considering for a competitive rotation.

Pitch mix matters more than simply looking at OVR. A starter with several useful pitches and different velocity ranges can be difficult to read online. For the bullpen, look for strong Stuff, H/9, K/9, clutch, and a useful combination of left- and right-handed arms.

Which Packs Are Worth It?

For most players, buying the exact card needed from the marketplace remains safer than spending large amounts of MLB The Show 26 Stubs on packs. Free Program and Conquest packs should always be used before spending currency.

Choice Packs are more attractive because they provide some control over the reward. Spotlight Packs can also be worth watching when new content arrives, although early prices can be inflated.

Programs to Prioritize

Multiplayer 7 is one of the better current programs for players looking for high-end cards. Its reward path includes several 99 OVR players, including Alfonso Soriano.

August Spotlight content is also worth completing. Alex Bregman is one of the notable rewards, while the August Spotlight collection leads to the 99 OVR Jac Caglianone Lightning card.

These programs are especially valuable for players who are still upgrading multiple positions without wanting to spend a large number of Stubs.

Save Some Stubs for September Content

Players should also avoid spending their entire Stub balance before the next major content drop. New Spotlight content, Programs, Conquest rewards, and roster updates can quickly change both the card market and the online meta.

If your current lineup is already competitive, waiting a few days for new cards can be more useful than paying a premium for a small upgrade.

For a limited budget, finish free Programs first and spend Stubs only on clear upgrades. For Ranked players, prioritize shortstop, center field, catcher, and starting pitching. Most importantly, choose cards based on how they play rather than their OVR alone.
