World of Warcraft: Forever expands the original Azeroth by opening areas that were previously inaccessible and adding new stories to locations that players may already recognize. Rather than replacing the Classic world, Blizzard is building new content directly into the existing level 1–60 experience. The main new regions include Mount Hyjal, Shen’dralas, Riverglades, and Zephras Isle, each offering a different type of exploration and questing experience.

Mount Hyjal is one of the most important new areas in WoW Forever. Blizzard presents it as an opportunity to explore the region after the Battle of Mount Hyjal and see how the land and its inhabitants are recovering.
The zone expands on a location that has long been important to Warcraft’s story. Players can explore areas such as Darkwhisper Gorge while becoming involved with the factions and conflicts developing around the region.
What makes Mount Hyjal different from a completely new setting is its connection to established Warcraft lore. The zone takes a familiar location and gives it a larger role within the level 1–60 world, allowing players to experience parts of Hyjal that were previously unavailable.
Shen’dralas opens another previously inaccessible part of Azeroth. Blizzard places the region between Mulgore and Desolace, connecting it with the surrounding areas and the history of the Shen’dralar.
Its story is linked to Eldre’Thalas, Dire Maul, and the centaur tribes in the surrounding region. This makes Shen’dralas feel like an extension of existing Classic locations rather than a completely separate destination.
Players who already know Desolace and the areas around Dire Maul can discover additional stories and locations that expand the history of the region. Exploration is therefore an important part of the experience, as the zone fills in a previously incomplete section of the original world.
For players preparing characters for longer exploration sessions, managing basic resources and upgrades can also make the leveling process smoother. This is where WoW Forever Gold can naturally fit into broader character preparation without changing the focus of the new-zone experience.
Riverglades is a frontier region connected to the Burning Steppes, Redridge Mountains, Swamp of Sorrows, and Badlands. Blizzard describes it as an area containing rivers, grasslands, settlements, trade routes, and conflicts between several groups.
The region adds substantial questing content to the mid-level progression experience. One of its key locations is Powderfuse Port, which also becomes part of the expanded transportation network connecting different areas of Azeroth.
Several factions and groups appear throughout Riverglades, including gnolls, ogres, the Twilight’s Hammer, the Brotherhood of the Horse, and Powderfuse goblins. These conflicts help connect the new region with the surrounding zones instead of making it feel isolated from the existing world.
For leveling characters, Riverglades can therefore function as another option within the broader progression route rather than simply being a destination to visit once.
Zephras Isle is the most distinctive of the four new regions because it serves as the starting area for the Skyborne, WoW Forever’s new playable race.
Blizzard describes the island as an elemental, sky-focused environment inspired by Skywall while maintaining the visual style of Classic Warcraft. The starting experience covers levels 1–12 and introduces the Skyborne’s history, factions, and internal conflicts.
Skyborne characters can choose between the Horde and Alliance. Horde Skyborne can access Shaman, while Alliance Skyborne can access Mage. Both sides can also choose Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid.
The island’s story introduces groups including the Windshapers, the High Order, and the Al’Aketh, giving the Skyborne a dedicated storyline before they join the wider Azeroth experience.
The important point about WoW Forever’s new zones is that they are designed to work alongside the original world rather than replace it.
Blizzard has announced more than 1,000 new quests across the level 1–60 journey. The expansion also introduces additional travel options, including new ship routes connecting established locations such as Stormwind Harbor, Auberdine, Menethil, and Southshore with newer destinations.
This means players can approach the new zones as part of a larger leveling journey. You are not required to abandon the familiar Classic regions. Instead, new questlines, settlements, factions, and travel routes provide additional ways to move through Azeroth.
WoW Forever’s new zones are designed around expanding Azeroth without losing the identity of the original world. Mount Hyjal develops an important Warcraft location, Shen’dralas fills in a previously inaccessible part of the map, Riverglades introduces a new frontier between familiar regions, and Zephras Isle gives the Skyborne their own starting experience.
Players who want extra support with character progression can also explore WoW Forever Boosting through services such as U4GM, giving them more flexibility to focus on exploring the new zones and enjoying the wider WoW Forever experience.
The best way to approach these areas is to treat them as extensions of the original journey. Follow their questlines, learn how they connect to existing regions, and explore their settlements to get a clearer picture of how Blizzard is expanding Azeroth while keeping its original structure intact.
