Unlike other trade skills, Tracking and Skinning are pretty straightforward to level up, and players will be able to climb those levels faster if they skin every animal they hunt. The problem is mainly related to encumbrance and how much players can carry in their inventories before they need to go back to the city to deposit the skins and other resources. To facilitate a smooth leveling process, here are some useful tips regarding the Trade Skill.

First and foremost, invest in Dexterity, since this attribute is the one that governs the Tracking and Skinning Trade Skill. For every certain amount of attribute points invested in Dexterity, players will receive a Perk. Here's every Perk related to Skinning, unlockable by maxing out Dexterity:

Perk unlocked with 25 Points: +10% Skinning Speed.
Perk unlocked with 50 Points: +20% haste for 3 seconds after Skinning.
Perk unlocked with 100 Points: +50 maximum encumbrance.
Perk unlocked with 150 Points: 10% reduced weight for all skinned items.
Perk unlocked with 200 Points: +20% skinning Speed.
Perk unlocked with 250 Points: +10% leather and meat yield when skinning.
Perk unlocked with 300 Points: Gain 20% haste after killing Prey.

Perk unlocked with 350 Points: 10% chance of finding rare items while Skinning.
Besides Attribute Perks, players can also make use of other boons. For example: Bags with Tanner's Burden and Gourmand's Burden, will reduce the weight of all skins and meat that players can get from the animals. If they also have a Lucky Perk, they have extra chances to get rare Items like Rabbit Foots or Wolf Fangs from skinning. Players can equip up to three bags at level 45, and each type of perk stacks up to three times.

On the other hand, there's a Set for Skinning named Tanner's Set, which has 5 parts (Gloves, Boots, Pants, Shirt, and Hat), and each of them increases by 2.5% the total amount of skinned items from hunted animals and creatures.

There are also certain food consumables that players can eat to increase their chances of getting more items when skinning, especially those that also increase Dexterity. Then, there are Trophies players can have at their homes and increase the amount of Mastery Points they gain, as well as other powerful boons, like the Skinning Gathering Trophy, which grants a whopping +1000 Skinning Luck.

Last but not least, players should also invest in gaining Standing in territories, since they will be able to unlock Standing Bonuses (or Mastery Perks) like Gather Speed, which increases all Gathering Skill-related actions by a percentage while players are in the territory where they have it unlocked, and it can be taken multiple times.
