In Path of Exile 2 , the Atlas of Worlds serves as the core of the endgame experience, offering players an infinite variety of maps to explore, bosses to defeat, and rewards to earn. While it can be overwhelming at first, once you understand how to navigate the Atlas, you’ll be able to maximize your endgame potential and make the most of your journey. This guide will walk you through unlocking and mastering the Atlas, as well as how you can enhance your PoE 2 experience.
To access the Atlas of Worlds, players must first complete both the Normal and Cruel campaigns. In PoE 2 Early Access, only Acts 1 through 3 are available, with future expansions planned. After defeating Doryani in Act 3 on Cruel difficulty, you will be introduced to the Atlas by Doryani, who provides you with your first Waystone. This marks your entry into the endgame.
After defeating Doryani, you’ll be sent to the Ziggurat Refuge, the central hub for all Atlas-related activities. From here, you can interact with the Map Device to open the Atlas Map and begin your exploration.
In the Ziggurat Refuge, head to the left side of the NPC hub to find the Map Device. Upon interacting with it, the Atlas Map will appear. The Atlas is randomized for each player, meaning no two players will have the same layout. As you explore, you’ll encounter Map Nodes connected by dashed lines.
To begin mapping, you’ll need a Waystone. Select a blue-glowing node, place your Waystone into the designated slot, and click Travel. This will open six portals, each leading to the same map. The portals remain open as long as you survive. If you die, you’ll be sent back to the Refuge or your Hideout, and the map will be marked as “Attempted.” You can try again, but you’ll need to slot a new Waystone if you wish to retry.
As you venture through the Atlas, you'll encounter unique special events and bosses, offering an array of challenges and rewards.
Special Events:
Each event has its own Passive Skill Tree, which you can invest in to improve rewards and enhance your experience. Points are exclusive to each event type and cannot be shared between them.
Unique Locations:
Pinnacle Bosses:
In addition to the Citadel and Burning Monolith bosses, you can challenge Pinnacle Bosses through the Realmgate near the Ziggurat Refuge. These bosses are summoned with materials gathered from Ritual, Breach, Expedition, and Delirium events. If you die, you’ll need to farm the summoning materials again.
After completing your first map, a new quest will appear, asking you to complete 10 maps with at least a Tier 1 Waystone. Completing this quest grants you a book that provides two points for the Atlas Passive Skill Tree. This tree functions similarly to the regular Passive Skill Tree, with nodes that improve your endgame experience.
The Atlas Passive Skill Tree allows you to:
If you decide to respec your points, you can do so by speaking with Doryani in the Ziggurat Refuge, allowing you to tailor your tree to your current needs.
The Atlas of Worlds offers Path of Exile 2 players an expansive and rewarding endgame. By unlocking the Atlas, exploring maps, and defeating special event bosses, you can continuously challenge yourself and gain powerful rewards.
