Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5: Which Classes Will Rule the Meta?

As a long-time Path of Exile 2 player, I’ve spent countless hours experimenting with every class, from Rangers zipping across maps to Druids shapeshifting into beasts. With the upcoming Patch 0.5, I’ve been thinking a lot about which classes are about to dominate the meta. While nothing is set in stone, I want to share my predictions based on current trends, past balance changes, and what we know about the upcoming endgame updates.

The Current Meta in POE2

Right now, certain classes clearly outperform others in specific areas. Fast map clear speed, high single-target damage, and flexible builds often determine whether a class feels strong. Personally, I love classes that can adapt mid-fight, and that’s why I’ve been gravitating toward the Druid recently—it just feels so versatile.

Patch 0.5 promises major endgame redesigns, which means we might see some surprising shifts in class power. Classes that can handle both bosses and map farming efficiently are likely to rise to the top.

S-Tier Contenders in Patch 0.5

Druid – The Ultimate Wild Card

If you’ve played the Druid, you know how satisfying it is to swap between wolf, bear, and even dragon forms. In Patch 0.5, I expect Druids to shine even more. The shapeshifting mechanic makes the class incredibly flexible, and I’ve had moments where I tanked a boss in bear form, then switched to wolf mid-fight for massive damage.

The versatility, combined with strong endgame scaling, makes me confident the Druid will be S-tier in the next patch.

Sorceress – Spell Damage Galore

I’ll admit, I’ve always had a soft spot for caster builds, and the Sorceress has never disappointed. Massive elemental spells, fast area clears, and the ability to melt bosses from a safe distance make her a powerhouse. Patch 0.5 may introduce new support gems or buffs that favor spellcasters, which could push Sorceresses right to the top of the meta.

Honestly, the first time I cleared a high-tier map as a Sorceress, it felt effortless—a true testament to the class’s potential.

Ranger – Speed Demon

Rangers have always been about agility and efficiency. If you enjoy zipping through maps and staying safely out of harm’s way, you’ll love what Patch 0.5 could do for the Ranger. My favorite Ranger moment? Solo farming maps with piercing arrows while barely breaking a sweat. Endgame bosses may test the class more, but with the right builds, Rangers will still be top-tier for speed and farming efficiency.

Rising Stars to Watch

Monk – High Skill Ceiling, High Reward

I haven’t spent as much time on the Monk yet, but from what I’ve seen, the class has insane burst potential and mobility. Experienced players who master its combos could find themselves dominating Patch 0.5 content. I’m excited to try a high-level Monk build once the patch drops—this one feels like it could surprise a lot of people.

Some slower leveling classes or niche builds may fall behind if endgame content becomes more punishing. If you prefer flexible, survivable builds, I’d focus on Druids, Sorceresses, or Rangers—they’re more likely to scale smoothly into endgame content.

Patch 0.5 is shaping up to shake the meta significantly. Based on what I’ve played and observed, I’d bet on Druid, Sorceress, and Ranger as the likely S-tier classes. That said, one of the best parts of Path of Exile 2 is experimentation—sometimes the most unexpected builds become meta-defining. If you’re a player like me, ready to explore the new patch, now is the perfect time to start planning your builds.
