In Path of Exile 2, Act 2 presents a challenging duo boss fight against Ekbab, the Ancient Steed, and Iktab, the Dreadlord. These formidable foes stand between you and the Mastodon Tusks, a crucial piece of the Horn of Vastiri. Your journey will take you across the Mastodon Badlands, into The Bone Pits, and finally to the Blackrib Pit, where these bosses await.

The Challenge of Fighting Both Bosses at Once

Ekbab and Iktab attack simultaneously, making this fight extremely dangerous. If you take down one boss first, the surviving one will become empowered, gaining stronger attacks. To avoid a more difficult battle, it’s best to damage both bosses evenly, ensuring they fall within moments of each other.

Ekbab, The Ancient Steed’s Attacks and Mechanics

Attack	Description	How to Avoid
Ground Slam	Ekbab rears up and slams the ground, creating a cascading damage wave.	Dodge to the sides when it raises its front hooves.
Tusk Swipe	Swipes its head to the left, dealing damage.	Stay to its right, but be ready for a follow-up swing.
Charge	Rushes forward in a straight line, dealing damage.	Keep your distance or sidestep before it charges.

Once Iktab is defeated, Ekbab becomes empowered, gaining a weaker version of Iktab’s Ghost Nova, which releases projectiles while summoning ghost orbs that track you. Bait the orbs to explode by dodging at the last second.

Iktab, The Dreadlord’s Attacks and Mechanics

Attack	Description	How to Avoid
Lightning Wand	Fires small lightning projectiles that explode on impact.	Keep your distance or time your dodges carefully.
Sigil Meteor	Summons three orange sigils that are struck by meteors.	Move away from the sigils before impact.
Lightning Strikes	Randomly drops lightning in small blue-marked areas.	Adjust your movement to avoid marked areas.
Ghost Nova	Rotating nova at the arena’s center that shoots projectiles.	Move in sync with the nova along the arena’s edge.

If Ekbab dies first, Iktab becomes empowered, making its abilities far more dangerous. Sigil Meteor will summon multiple waves, Ghost Nova will fire projectiles faster, and Lightning Strikes will become denser. Additionally, Iktab gains:

Bone Tendrils	Summons five explosive AoEs beneath your feet.	Keep moving constantly.

Best Strategy to Win

Since Iktab’s empowered form is much deadlier, it’s safer to kill Iktab first while carefully managing Ekbab’s health. Equip lightning resistance gear to mitigate damage from Iktab’s attacks. If possible, try to kill both bosses close together in time to avoid any prolonged empowered phases.
