PoE 2 Hostile Takeover Quest Guide

In Path of Exile 2, the “Hostile Takeover” side quest is an important objective during Act 4. Once you reach Kingsmarch, you can begin this quest by speaking with Ange. Although it is technically optional, completing it is highly recommended because it unlocks your personal Shoreline Hideout and gives you full access to Ange’s NPC services.

For players building their endgame setup, having reliable access to a personal hideout can make progression and item management much more convenient. It is also a useful place to organize your PoE 2 Currency and prepare for future content.

How to Start the Hostile Takeover Quest

The quest becomes available after you reach Kingsmarch during Act 4. Speak with Ange to receive the “Hostile Takeover” objective.

Your main task is to travel to the Singing Caverns, locate the hidden cove, eliminate the enemies occupying the area, and defeat its boss, Diamora.

After clearing the location, you will effectively secure the area and establish it as your pirate-themed hideout.

Hostile Takeover Quest Walkthrough

1. Speak With Ange in Kingsmarch

Begin the quest by finding Ange in Kingsmarch during Act 4. Talk to her to receive the instructions for taking over the Singing Caverns area.

2. Travel to the Singing Caverns

Use the appropriate waypoint to enter the Singing Caverns. Explore the zone and follow its paths until you discover the hidden cove.

The layout can make the destination somewhat difficult to spot, so continue exploring rather than relying exclusively on the initial quest marker.

3. Clear the Hidden Cove

Once you reach the cove, defeat the enemies occupying the area. Make sure the area is fully cleared so that you can proceed with the takeover.

4. Defeat Diamora

The final combat objective is defeating Diamora, the boss associated with the cove.

After defeating the boss and clearing the area, the location becomes available for your new hideout.

5. Travel to Your Hideout

After securing the cove, return to a waypoint and select Travel to Hideout.

This is where an important detail can prevent the quest from completing correctly: make sure your active hideout is the default Shoreline Hideout.

How to Fix the “Speak to Ange” Bug

Some players encounter a problem with the final objective, which asks them to travel to their Hideout and speak to Ange. Ange may not update the quest, or the quest marker may disappear entirely.

The most common solution is to manually enter the Shoreline Hideout and interact with the NPC there.

Follow these steps:

1. Click any Waypoint.

2. Select Travel to Hideout.

3. Once inside, manually switch your active hideout to Shoreline Hideout.

4. Find Ange inside the Shoreline Hideout.

5. Speak with Ange again.

6. If necessary, also check the NPC Andrew associated with the hideout interaction.

7. The quest marker should reappear and allow you to complete the objective.

The important point is that the quest should be turned in while you are specifically inside the default Shoreline Hideout.

Avoid Turning In the Quest in a Custom Hideout

One potential source of the problem is completing the final interaction while using a paid or custom hideout.

If you previously switched to another hideout, the game may fail to properly unlock Ange’s complete shop and NPC services. When troubleshooting the quest, return to the default Shoreline Hideout before speaking with Ange.

This is particularly important if the quest appears to be completed but Ange’s expected services are still unavailable.

Why You Should Complete Hostile Takeover

Although “Hostile Takeover” is a side quest, its reward has practical value throughout your Path of Exile 2 progression.

Unlocking the Shoreline Hideout gives you a dedicated personal space for managing your character, organizing resources, and preparing for additional content. A functional hideout also becomes increasingly useful as you accumulate equipment and PoE 2 Items and begin spending more time on endgame progression.

Because the quest itself is relatively straightforward, there is little reason to leave it unfinished once you reach the required stage of Act 4.

Quick Fix Summary

If “Hostile Takeover” refuses to complete after you speak with Ange, the quickest troubleshooting method is:

Waypoint → Travel to Hideout → Switch to Shoreline Hideout → Find Ange → Speak with Ange again.

If you are currently using a paid or custom hideout, switch back to the default Shoreline Hideout before attempting the final dialogue.

Once Ange properly recognizes the quest completion, the hideout and her associated services should become available as intended.

Complete the Takeover and Unlock Your Hideout

“Hostile Takeover” is one of those Path of Exile 2 side quests that is easy to overlook but worthwhile to finish. The main objectives are simple: speak with Ange in Kingsmarch, clear the Singing Caverns, defeat Diamora, claim the cove, and return to the Shoreline Hideout.

If the final step fails to register, don’t restart the entire quest. Manually select Travel to Hideout, switch to the Shoreline Hideout, and speak with Ange there. This workaround addresses the common quest-marker and NPC-service issues and should allow you to finish the quest normally.
