The Fall Harvest update has added several pets to Grow A Garden 2, and Squirrel is quickly becoming one of the more interesting options for players who spend a lot of time farming.

The reason is pretty simple: Squirrel can harvest mature crops for you. That might not sound as exciting as a combat ability, but anyone managing a large garden knows how much time can disappear just collecting crops one by one. With farming efficiency becoming increasingly important when players are trying to build up their GAG 2 Sheckles, having a pet that handles part of the harvesting work can make a noticeable difference.

So, is Squirrel actually worth getting, or would another Fall Harvest pet be a better choice?

Why Squirrel Is So Useful

Squirrel is a Legendary pet that can be obtained from the Fall Common Egg at roughly a 12% chance. It can also appear through Fall Harvest World refreshes, with the cost reaching around 1.2 million Leaves.

Its main selling point is the Auto Harvester ability. Once crops are ready, Squirrel can pick them and bring them back to you instead of making you run around the garden yourself.

This becomes much more noticeable when you have a large farm. With several crops becoming ready around the same time, Squirrel can take care of a lot of the routine harvesting while you focus on planting, expanding, or managing other parts of your garden.

The biggest advantages are:

• Automatic harvesting of mature crops
• Less time spent running around the garden
• Very useful for large farms
• Works especially well with AFK-style farming
• Big, Mega, and Rainbow versions offer additional value for collectors and traders

There is one obvious trade-off. Squirrel is almost entirely about farming efficiency. It does not protect your crops from thieves and it does not give you the extra seed utility that some other pets provide.

Squirrel vs Other Fall Harvest Pets

The other pets are worth considering because they cover areas that Squirrel does not.

Squirrel vs Swan

Swan and Squirrel work well together because they improve different parts of the same farming loop.

Swan helps crops grow faster, while Squirrel takes care of them once they are ready. If you have a large garden and want to keep the farming cycle moving, this is probably the most natural two-pet combination.

If you are constantly waiting for crops to grow, Swan may make a bigger difference. If harvesting is the part that slows you down, Squirrel is the better pick.

Squirrel vs Turkey

Turkey is more appealing to players who are always running short on seeds. Its ability gives you another way to build up your seed supply, although the results are not as directly useful for every farming session.

If you already have plenty of seeds, Squirrel is likely to provide more noticeable value.

Squirrel vs Dog

Dog serves a completely different purpose. Instead of helping you farm faster, it helps deal with thieves.

That makes the choice pretty straightforward. If losing valuable crops to thieves is a constant problem, Dog can be more useful than another farming pet. If your garden is relatively safe, Squirrel will have a bigger impact on your everyday routine.

You do not necessarily have to choose between these pets. If you have enough slots, combining their abilities can make a much stronger setup.

For AFK farming: Squirrel + Swan

Swan speeds up the growing process and Squirrel handles the harvesting. This is the setup to consider if your main goal is getting more work done with less manual input.

For safer farming: Squirrel + Dog

This gives you automatic harvesting while adding protection against thieves. It is a better choice if your garden is regularly being targeted.

For collecting seeds: Squirrel + Turkey

You get the convenience of automatic harvesting while Turkey helps build up your seed supply.

For a more complete setup: Squirrel + Swan + Dog

This covers crop growth, harvesting, and protection. It is a strong all-around setup if you have enough pet slots to run all three.

Should You Chase Big, Mega, or Rainbow Squirrel?

The regular Squirrel is enough for most players. Its main ability is already useful, so there is no need to spend huge amounts of resources chasing a higher variant unless you have a specific reason.

Going after Big, Mega, or Rainbow versions makes more sense if you are:

• Building a high-efficiency farming setup
• Collecting rare variants
• Interested in trading
• Already generating enough Leaves to afford the upgrade chase

For everyone else, getting a normal Squirrel and putting the rest of your resources into the garden may be the smarter move.

Is Squirrel the Best Fall Harvest Pet?

For harvesting, yes. Squirrel has one of the most useful abilities for players who spend a lot of time managing crops, especially once the size of your garden starts to increase.

But that does not make it the best pet for every situation.

If you want faster crop growth, look at Swan. If you need more seeds, Turkey makes more sense. If thieves are your biggest problem, Dog is the more useful choice.

For most farming-focused players, though, Squirrel is an easy pet to recommend.
