Last Epoch Season 5: Rage of the Frostborn is coming to Eterra on October 1, 2026, bringing a major new seasonal mechanic, a new endgame boss, Pinnacle content, new skills, new Unique and Set items, faction improvements, quality-of-life updates, and a large number of balance changes.

The centerpiece of Last Epoch Patch 1.5 is the new Rage of Morditas system. Players will encounter Morditas-related events throughout the Campaign and Monolith of Fate before eventually facing Morditas himself in a new endgame encounter.
Whether you are a returning player, a long-time Last Epoch veteran, or preparing a new Season 5 character, Patch 1.5 introduces plenty of new systems and build possibilities to explore.
Here is everything you need to know about Last Epoch Season 5: Rage of the Frostborn.
Last Epoch Season 5 launches on October 1, 2026, at 11 AM CDT.
The game will enter scheduled downtime approximately 24 hours before launch while the servers are prepared for Season 5. Players who want to continue playing during the downtime can still access Full Offline Mode.
Season 5 is officially titled Rage of the Frostborn and is built around the story and power of Morditas, a blood-and-ice themed demigod connected to Heorot.
The major additions in Patch 1.5 include:
·New seasonal mechanic: Rage of Morditas
·New endgame boss: Morditas
·New Pinnacle encounter: Demigod’s Ascendance
·New Bloodrage system
·New Bloody & Frozen Ritual reward system
·16 new Unique items
·2 new Set items
·New class skill: Paladin – Radiant Lance
·New and reworked skills across multiple classes
·Merchant’s Guild and Circle of Fortune updates
·New Weaver Tree nodes
·New Nexus activity interface
·Stash search improvements
·Controller improvements
·Performance optimizations
·Numerous balance changes and bug fixes
These additions make Season 5 more than a simple balance patch. Patch 1.5 introduces a new progression loop while also changing skills, itemization, factions, and endgame activities.
The biggest feature in Last Epoch Season 5 is the new Rage of Morditas mechanic.
Rage of Morditas encounters can appear while players explore the Campaign and the Monolith of Fate.
During these encounters, players fight through waves of enemies while building Bloodrage Charges.
Bloodrage Charges are earned as you defeat enemies:
·20 kills – 1 Bloodrage Charge
·50 kills – 2 Charges
·90 kills – 3 Charges
·140 kills – 4 Charges
·200 kills – 5 Charges
Each Bloodrage Charge grants a randomly selected powerful Bloodrage buff for the duration of the encounter.
After reaching 200 kills, the encounter changes significantly. The timer begins to decrease rapidly and the second phase starts, creating a blood-and-ice arena where enemies defeated during the first phase return to fight the player.
Players can leave the combat area for four seconds if they want to end the second phase early.
After defeating the enemies, a Blood-Filled Crystal appears.
This crystal is the key to the new reward system.
The Blood-Filled Crystal introduces a new reward-selection mechanic called Bloody & Frozen Rituals.
Players can spend their Bloodrage Charges to interact with the reward panel.
A charge can be used to claim an item or perform one of two special rituals.
The Frozen Ritual allows players to sacrifice a selected reward slot and reroll the remaining rewards.
The new rewards are guaranteed to remain within the same item type.
For example, if you perform a Frozen Ritual on an amulet, the next group of rewards will contain amulets rather than completely different item types.
Rare and Exalted items generated through this system will have Ice Forging Potential.
The Bloody Ritual works differently.
Instead of preserving the selected item type, the sacrificed item type is removed from the next reward selection.
For example, sacrificing a two-handed axe prevents another two-handed axe from appearing in the rerolled reward options.
Rare and Exalted items generated through a Bloody Ritual will have Blood Forging Potential.
These two systems add another layer of item targeting to Season 5 and give players more control over the rewards generated by Rage of Morditas.
The new seasonal encounter also introduces several exclusive item subtypes.
The Veinweave Belt provides:
·4 potion slots by default
·30–60 Mana
·70–100 increased Ward Decay Threshold
The Icescale Greaves provide:
·40 Armor
·An additional Evade charge
·12–16% increased movement speed
The Eber Horn Gauntlets provide:
·65 Armor
·5–15% increased Endurance
·25–45% Necrotic Resistance
These items are specifically associated with the Rage of Morditas reward system.
Morditas is not only the centerpiece of the new seasonal mechanic. He is also the new endgame boss in Season 5.
As players complete Rage of Morditas encounters within the Monolith of Fate, they will progress through three Morditas-related challenges.
Progress can be tracked through the new Nexus activity interface.
Once enough souls have been claimed, special Echoes become available.
The final encounter is called Circle of Frozen Blood, where players face Morditas directly.
Defeating the standard Morditas encounter unlocks a new Pinnacle Woven Echo called Demigod’s Ascendance.
This is a high-level endgame challenge that requires 400 Corruption.
The encounter represents another step in Last Epoch’s endgame progression and gives experienced players a new target to pursue after defeating the standard Morditas encounter.
For players focused on high-Corruption Monolith progression, Demigod’s Ascendance is one of the most important additions in Patch 1.5.
Patch 1.5 also introduces a new Paladin skill called Radiant Lance.
Radiant Lance requires a shield and is unlocked by spending 15 points in the Paladin passive tree.
The skill concentrates heavenly light through the player’s shield and fires a powerful beam at enemies.
One of its key mechanics is that it deals 1% more damage for every 1% uncapped Block Chance, with the bonus multiplying with other modifiers.
This creates a new build direction around Block Chance and shield-based Paladin gameplay.

Season 5 isn’t only about the new Paladin skill.
Patch 1.5 contains a large number of skill and passive changes across Last Epoch’s classes.
Several abilities receive:
·Damage adjustments
·Mana cost changes
·Scaling changes
·New conversions
·Area-of-effect changes
·Passive tree adjustments
·New interactions
· Improved specialization options
Some of the skills receiving notable changes include:
·Shield Bash
·Shield Throw
·Smelter’s Wrath
·Earthquake
·Entangling Roots
·Tempest Strike
·Tornado
·Werebear Form
·Static Orb
·Snap Freeze
·Surge
·Avalanche
These changes should give players plenty of reasons to experiment with new builds when Season 5 begins.
Shaman receives several changes in Patch 1.5, including adjustments to elemental and spell-oriented abilities.
Some changes affect damage effectiveness, mana costs, projectiles, skill duration, and secondary effects.
Runemaster also receives adjustments to several passive and skill interactions, including changes involving:
·Logocracy
·Sanguine Runestones
·Decree of the Eternal Tundra
·Decree of the Bountiful Ocean
·Decree of the Burning Wind
Players planning a Shaman or Runemaster build should review the complete Patch 1.5 skill and passive changes before committing to a Season 5 build.
One of the biggest itemization additions in Last Epoch Season 5 is the introduction of:
16 new Unique items and 2 new Set items.
These additions expand the number of build-defining items available in the game and provide new opportunities for theorycrafting.
Some of the new items are connected directly to Season 5’s themes and mechanics, while others provide new interactions with existing skills and build archetypes.
Players who enjoy experimenting with unusual skill combinations will have new item combinations to discover when the season launches.
Patch 1.5 introduces a new Nexus Window.
The interface provides a centralized way to view and navigate various endgame activities, including:
·Endgame activities
·Timelines
·Dungeons
·Faction information
·Morditas-related progression
The Nexus can be accessed from Traveler’s Rest and the world map.
This should make it easier for players to track their progression without navigating through multiple separate interfaces.
Season 5 also includes improvements to Last Epoch’s Item Factions.
The game now provides clearer faction requirements in item tooltips.
If a player does not have a high enough faction rank to use an item, the requirement is displayed in red.
The game also adds a UI notification whenever the player reaches a new faction rank.
These changes should make faction progression easier to understand, especially for newer players.
The Woven system receives several changes related to Rage of Morditas.
Three new Weaver Tree nodes are being introduced:
This node increases the likelihood of encountering Rage of Morditas events in Echoes.
This node increases the appearance rate of Unique items and item subtypes associated with Rage of Morditas.
However, enemies in the second phase of Rage of Morditas encounters become more powerful.
This node replaces a random enemy in the second phase with a random Omen and causes corrupted items to drop when the encounter ends.
These additions allow players to customize their interaction with the new seasonal mechanic.
Patch 1.5 contains a number of smaller improvements that should make everyday gameplay smoother.
One particularly useful change is the addition of new Stash Search Macros.
Players can now search for:
·Individual skill-affix levels using skill
·Total skill-affix levels using skills
·Specific affix tiers using aff/regex/ or affix/regex/
For example, searching for skill4 can identify an item with a T7 +4 skill affix.
These improvements should be especially useful for players who regularly manage large item collections.
Controller users also receive improvements in Season 5.
The Item Faction interfaces have been updated for better controller support.
The virtual cursor has also been removed, with interfaces becoming directly interactable through standard controller buttons and thumbsticks.
Patch 1.5 also includes several performance-related changes.
The developers have optimized how assets are loaded into scenes and introduced a system that can reduce visual-effects complexity when many instances of abilities are active simultaneously.
This is particularly relevant during dense combat situations where large numbers of enemies, skills, and visual effects can appear on screen at once.
Season 5 introduces several enemy-related changes.
Admiral Harton receives a refreshed boss battle.
The Voidstone Scorpion has been replaced by Abyssal Hungers, a larger Void Spider.
Void Spiders can now appear in the Monolith and Arena.
Frozen Dryads have also been replaced by Farwood Guardians.
The update additionally includes visual, animation, sound, and ragdoll improvements across several enemy types.
As with most major Last Epoch updates, Patch 1.5 contains a large number of bug fixes.
The fixes cover:
·Campaign areas
·Enemy animations
·Boss mechanics
·Visual effects
·Sound effects
·Camera issues
·Ragdoll behavior
·Movement skills
·Multiplayer issues
·Various item and interaction problems
The full patch notes contain the complete list of fixes.
If you are preparing for Last Epoch Season 5, there are several areas worth checking before choosing your starter build.
Do not rely entirely on Season 4 builds.
Patch 1.5 changes a large number of skills and passive interactions, so older build guides may not accurately represent Season 5 performance.
The 16 new Unique items may create entirely new build combinations.
Build planners and community guides are likely to evolve rapidly after launch as players discover new interactions.
The new seasonal mechanic becomes part of the Monolith progression loop.
Players who want to push the new endgame content should pay attention to Bloodrage Charges, Morditas’ Anger, and the Bloody and Frozen Ritual systems.
Merchant’s Guild and Circle of Fortune remain important parts of item progression.
The Season 5 changes make it worthwhile to reconsider how your character will approach item acquisition.
Last Epoch Season 5: Rage of the Frostborn launches on October 1, 2026, at 11 AM CDT.
The new seasonal mechanic is Rage of Morditas. Players encounter Morditas-related events in the Campaign and Monolith of Fate, build Bloodrage Charges, and use them to influence their rewards.

Demigod’s Ascendance is a new Pinnacle Woven Echo unlocked after defeating the standard Morditas encounter. It requires 400 Corruption.
Patch 1.5 adds 16 new Unique items and 2 new Set items.
Yes. Patch 1.5 introduces the Paladin skill Radiant Lance, which requires a shield and is unlocked after spending 15 points in the Paladin passive tree.
Existing builds may still be useful as references, but Patch 1.5 introduces extensive skill, passive, item, and balance changes. Players should check whether their chosen build has been affected before starting Season 5.
