Stray is a very unique indie game that takes a classic adventure, exploration and puzzle-solving and spices it up with a cat's perspective. Stealth and escape sequences to spice up the gameplay

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the next game of the Call of Duty series, created by the people working on CoD: BO since 2010, Treyarch studio, acting under the watchful eye of Activision Blizzard. The original Black Ops is by many considered the most exciting and thrilling installment of the whole CoD series, and the Cold War is the direct continuation of the history presented in the first BO. The video game created by Treyarch presents extremely high-quality visuals thanks to the advanced technology developed by the Infinity Ward.

Cold War Storyline

The story presented in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War campaign takes place in the early 1980s, during the geographical and political tension between the Soviet Union and the United States, better known as the titular Cold War. The events of the game are the direct continuation of the story pictured in the original Black Ops from 2010. Alex Mason, together with his old companions, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson, are being pulled into a dangerous conspiracy with crippling global consequences. In 1981, President of the United States, Ronald Reagan learns about the Soviet spy with a codename Perseus, gathering intel for the enemy.

The president authorizes top secret black operation to put an end to the conspiration. Players will take on the role of a member of the said operation, codenamed Bell - players can customize the character and decide about his (or her) appearance, ethnic background, and personalities providing special bonuses and perks. It worth mentioning that the game features multiple endings, depending on the player's choices during the campaign. History enthusiasts will appreciate the fact that CoD: Black Ops Cold War is inspired by the actual events.

Exciting, fast-paced gameplay

The action of the game is presented from the first-person perspective. If it comes to the main elements of the gameplay CoD: Black Ops Cold War is a typical example of an FPS game. Players will take part in spectacular, action-packed missions and fight with enemies using a variety of different firearms, including pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, and even prototype weapons from the Cold War period.

During the single-player campaign, players will have the opportunity to visit a number of locations, in many different parts of the world. Single-player missions are challenging and going into the middle of battle will not end well. During the encounter, players will have to use elements of the environment to find the right cover, and gain an advantage over the enemy. Some missions will also require a more stealthy approach, in order to get behind the enemy line without being detected, etc.

Game modes

Besides the spectacular single-player campaign, CoD: BO Cold War features very engaging multiplayer mode, being the second most important element in every CoD game. It features some old-school 6v6 and 12v12 matches but also a new mode called 'Fireteams' which allows up to 40 players to join the battle. The game offers an advanced Class system, similar to the one from Modern Warfare with some new modifications. Every player can create a unique class to match his personal preferences and playstyle. It is important to mention that the game will support cross-play in terms of platforms, and generations. Additionally, the progression system implemented in Black Ops Cold War features the Warzone support which means that the Battle Pass will unify the progression in both games.

Aside from the competitive multiplayer modes and exciting single-player missions, the game returns with enjoyed by thousands of players Zombie micro campaign. Players can team up with a group of friends and fight back countless hordes of bloodthirsty zombies. The mode features a number of unique abilities and perks, as well as a diverse arsenal that can be used for eliminating the undead.

Key features:

Direct continuations of the Black Ops history

Visit places like Berlin, Vietnam, and Turkey during spectacular single-player missions

Compete against players from all over the world in fast-paced multiplayer modes

Cross-platform and cross-generation support with Warzone-supported progression

Totally new Zombies campaign

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a single-player action-adventure RPG, developed by FromSoftware and published by Activision Blizzard. The game is set in Japan, during the 1500s’ Sengoku period. Players’ will travel the feudal land as Sekiro, one-armed samurai warrior and face dangerous foes, both in combat and stealth action. The game is scheduled to hit the stores in March 2019.

Gameplay

In Sekiro, the players take control of the main character named Sekiro, or “One-armed Wolf”, a lone samurai warrior. Unlike in previous FromSoftware games, the player cannot influence the appearance of Sekiro.

In combat, the protagonist uses two katanas. Players can switch between them, but they cannot be dual-wielded. Sekiro also has a prosthetic arm replacing his missing limb. The Shinobi Prosthetic, as it is called in the game, can be fitted with various attachments, which serve different purposes. Grappling hook allows climbing into elevated areas to search for items or stealthy plan attack from above, axe can be equipped to shatter enemies’ shields, flamethrower lights enemies on fire and can also be used to ignite players’ katana, and many more. Equippable tools can be upgraded by different means, such as finding crafting materials or spending skill points.

Sekiro’s combat mechanics are based on what developers describe as “battle of postures” system. Instead of directly attacking the opponent and dealing damage, players must throw their foe off balance and break their guard. By attacking the enemies’ defense stance, the player fills in a gauge visible in the top of the screen. When the gauge is full, the player can break the guard of their adversary and deal a lethal strike with their sword. In most cases one strike is enough to kill the enemy, however, there are some, who require more effort. These foes act as the bosses in the game. The same mechanic that players use on their enemies can be used against them. That’s why Sekiro emphasizes constant offensive, filling the enemies gauge to dispose of them quickly, and not letting them retaliate.

Defeating enemies and bosses rewards the player with experience, which later gives skill points. The skill points can be spent on upgrading various aspects of Sekiro’s abilities divided into three skill trees: Shinobi, Samurai and Prosthetic Arm.

Stealth in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an important aspect of gameplay. Players can enter stealth mode to quietly sneak on unsuspecting enemies and kill them without alerting others or eavesdrop to gather information. Players can use elements of the environment, such as patches of tall grass to hide before enemies’ eyes. The hiding spots in Sekiro are described as dynamic, which means that they can be negatively influenced by foes, for example by burning grass. Enemies alerted to players’ presence will come to investigate. While doing that the marker above their head will be yellow. When the marker turns red, that means Sekiro was spotted and players must get ready for a confrontation.

Story and Characters

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is set in 16th century Japan during the famous Sengoku period. Japan is split into warring kingdoms, where feudal lords waged brutal battles with the help of samurai warriors. The main character of the game, Sekiro, is one of such samurai. Sekiro’s master, a young feudal lord, was kidnapped by the Ashina clan, and the samurai himself was disfigured and left for dead.

Now he sets out on the quest to regain his honor and rescue his master. Sekiro is armed with both, a traditional Japanese katana sword as well as a prosthetic which allows him to equip various helpful tools which he can use in his travels and during fights. Because of his severed arm, the samurai is known as a one-armed wolf who seeks revenge on his attackers.

Reception

Early impressions of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice were very positive. After its reveal at E3 2018 critics praised the game for innovative gameplay mechanics and climate of Sengoku era Japan recreated in the game. The game is considered a huge hit, drawing comparisons to other series from this studio, namely Dark Souls. Players especially love the difficulty level, combat and overall climate of the game.

Set 300 years in the dark future, The Callisto Protocol aims to define a new generation of survival horror games. Using their resourcefulness, as well as an array of range weapons and hand-to-hand combat the player must fight for their freedom and uncover the mysteries of Callisto, the Jupiter's dead moon.

Story

In The Callisto Protocol, the player takes the role of Jacob Lee, who was sent to Black Iron Prison. If that wasn't a grim situation already, the prison is thrown into chaos as inmates are starting to mutate into horribly disfigured monsters and guards fail to contain the outbreak. The Callisto Protocol is full of dark and claustrophobic locations, and the game's atmosphere is soaking in the brutality of a prison that has gone to hell. There are many dark and foreboding secrets luring in the shadows of Callisto, cast by United Jupiter Company. And to survive, Jacob will have to face them head-on.

Gameplay

The Callisto Protocol is a single player survival horror and a third-person shooter. As Jacob Lee, the player will have to fight unimaginable monstrosities with a combination of ranged weapons and hand-to-hand combat. Among the array of weapons at the player's disposal is the gravity weapon used by the Black Iron Prison guards to keep the prisoners in check. But it's not as simple as just shooting enemies in the head. To combat mutated inmates you'll have to get your hands really dirty and sever their limbs, cut off their arms, blast off their legs and get really creative with the arsenal at your disposal. It's not just gore for gore's sake, each encounter is deadly and you'll have to do anything necessary to survive this hellscape.

A real revolution in video games is coming! Ubisoft studio is not resting on its laurels and in 2021 it wants to treat us with something truly spectacular.

Gameplay

The Riders Republic is a huge playground, entirely at the disposal of players. You can put on skis, snowboard, ride a bike, or even use a wingsuit. All of this can take place in a huge world that can be explored with up to 50 friends simultaneously thanks to the multiplayer mode. Following the example of the best sports productions, we can also enter the career mode, where we will be able to develop our own skills and write our own unique sports legend. Progressing will unlock new items, such as gears or outfits.

The graphic design looks phenomenal. On screenshots and trailers promoting the game, we can observe a large variety of terrain and great attention to detail. The animations of characters performing various tricks on a variety of equipment also look great. It will also be a real treat to visit iconic places in the United States, such as national parks Yosemite or Bryce Canyon.

An unstoppable dose of adrenaline will be provided by various multiplayer attractions provided by the creators in this crazy rider game. An example is the Mass Start Races mode, a huge bike race in which more than fifty players can take part at the same time and compete for the win! But this is not the end of the advantages - we can also compete in the 6v6 arena mode or climb the online ranking. The creators have prepared a lot of stuff for players.

A lot of fun!

What's more, the game offers great opportunities. Each style is highly developed and will require different skills from the player, and mastering all of them will require many hours of training. But it will not be tedious, boring and hard training - on the contrary, it promises to be brilliant fun that will be difficult to break away from! Thanks to the huge, open world, we will be able to feel real freedom and create our own style that we have always wanted to show to others.

Riders Republic was announced on September 10, 2020, during the Ubisoft Forward digital event. The game is set to be released for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on February 25, 2021. Any sports game fan should write this date down in the booklet and wait for it with a flushed face. It's going to be a real revolution. For the more impatient, Ubisoft has added the option of buying a pre-coder, which of course will be associated with additional bonuses.
