Diablo 2 Resurrected is getting ready for another Ladder reset, and Season 16 brings more than a fresh race to Level 99. Blizzard has confirmed the November 13 launch date alongside Patch 3.4, which includes a long list of Unique item improvements, changes to Non-Ladder item availability, and several bug fixes.

Some of the most interesting changes involve older Unique items that have rarely been a first choice for many builds. With better damage, additional skill bonuses, and useful combat effects, several of these items could become more appealing when players start experimenting with their next characters.

Here's everything worth knowing about Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 16 and Patch 3.4.

Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 16 Start Date and Schedule

Blizzard has confirmed that Ladder Season 15 will end on November 9, 2026, at 11 AM PST. Patch 3.4 will begin rolling out on the same day, while Season 16 officially starts on November 13 at 5 PM PST.

The regional launch schedule is:

RegionSeason 16 Start
North AmericaNovember 13, 5 PM PST
EuropeNovember 14, 1 AM BST / 3 AM CEST (as listed by Blizzard)
AsiaNovember 14, 9 AM CST / 10 AM KST

Season 16 will feature four familiar Ladder modes:

  • Pre-Expansion Ladder: Standard Ladder gameplay with the original four acts.
  • Pre-Expansion Hardcore Ladder: The original four acts with permanent character death.
  • Ladder: Standard Expansion gameplay, including all five acts.
  • Hardcore Ladder: Expansion gameplay with permanent character death.

The main attraction is still the race to Level 99. Everyone starts with a fresh Ladder character, so early leveling, efficient farming, and finding useful equipment will once again be important for players competing on the leaderboard.

There is also one important preparation step before Season 15 ends. All existing Ladder characters will move to their respective Non-Ladder groups. Their Shared Stash items will be placed in Withdraw Only tabs. However, items left in the Season 14 Withdraw Only tabs will be lost when Season 15 ends and the new stash transfer takes place. Make sure to retrieve anything you want to keep.

Patch 3.4 Gives Several Unique Items Another Chance

The biggest equipment-related news in Patch 3.4 is the number of Unique items receiving improvements. Rather than focusing only on already popular equipment, Blizzard is updating several older drops with stronger damage, additional skills, and more useful effects.

Some of the most interesting changes include:

Unique ItemMain Changes
The SalamanderFire Skills increased to +3, Fire Ball to +4, and gains 10% Faster Cast Rate
The AtlanteanEnhanced Damage increased to 250–300%, gains +2–5 Zeal and additional Attack Rating
Ethereal EdgeEnhanced Damage increased to 220–260%, Increased Attack Speed increased to 40%
ColdkillCold Damage increased to 80–100 and Enhanced Damage improved
Lava GoutCannot Be Frozen replaces Half Freeze Duration
Demonhorn's EdgeIncreased Attack Speed rises to 20% and gains +1 Barbarian Skills
Veil of SteelGains +2 to All Skills, physical damage reduction, and Magic Resist
Executioner's JusticeImproved Enhanced Damage and attack speed, with a new Amplify Damage proc

These changes give players more reasons to look twice at items they might previously have left on the ground.

The Salamander is particularly interesting for Fire-based characters because its improved skill bonuses and Faster Cast Rate directly support its intended role. The Atlantean also gets a more attractive combination of damage, Attack Rating, and Zeal bonuses for Paladins.

Ethereal Edge receives a substantial damage increase alongside better attack speed, while Lava Gout gains Cannot Be Frozen, a useful property for characters who need to maintain their attack speed and mobility.

Not every updated item will automatically become a top-tier choice. Its actual value will depend on the character, build, available alternatives, and how players use the new bonuses. Still, these changes create more opportunities to experiment with equipment that has often been overlooked.

One important detail: these item adjustments apply to Reign of the Warlock Online Ladder and Offline modes. They do not change the corresponding Classic or Lord of Destruction item versions.

More Ladder-Only Items Become Available in Non-Ladder

Patch 3.4 also brings a useful change for players who prefer Online Non-Ladder instead of starting over every season.

Previously updated Ladder-only items will become available in Non-Ladder with the new season. The affected items include:

  • Angelic Raiment
  • Bane Ash
  • Blinkbat's Form
  • Bloodletter
  • Gravenspine
  • Manald Heal
  • Pluckeye
  • Rogue's Bow
  • The Battlebranch
  • The Ward

This is good news for players who have spent considerable time developing their existing characters. More available equipment means additional options when adjusting builds or completing collections without having to create a new seasonal character.

As with the other equipment changes, this availability update applies to Reign of the Warlock only, not Classic or Lord of Destruction.

Important Character Conversion Changes Starting November 16

There is another change that returning players should not overlook.

Starting November 16, 2026, players will no longer be able to convert Online Expansion (LoD) characters, whether Ladder or Non-Ladder, into Reign of the Warlock.

Offline character conversions will remain available, and Classic-to-Expansion conversions will also continue to be supported.

Anyone who still has an eligible Online LoD character they want to move into Reign of the Warlock should complete the conversion before the deadline.

This change is separate from the November 13 Ladder launch, so players should keep both dates in mind.

Is Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 16 Worth Playing?

Season 16 looks interesting for both competitive Ladder players and those who prefer collecting equipment and testing different builds.

The fresh Ladder economy provides another opportunity to start from scratch, while Patch 3.4 gives several older Unique D2R Ladder Items a new set of stats worth exploring. The additional Non-Ladder item availability is also a welcome change for players who would rather continue developing their existing characters.

Before the reset, take some time to organize your Shared Stash, retrieve any Season 15 items you want to preserve, and check whether any of the updated Unique items fit your planned build.

With the new season approaching, players have a fresh race to Level 99 ahead of them and more equipment possibilities to explore along the way.
