Enigma is one of the most valuable chase Diablo 4 items in Diablo 4 Season 15. The iconic Runeword has returned with a powerful mobility effect that gives non-Sorcerer classes access to Sorcerer's Teleport while also providing strong offensive and defensive bonuses.

The good news is that the actual crafting process is simple. The difficult part is collecting the three required Runes: Jah, Ith, and Ber. This guide explains everything you need to know, from finding the right Chest Armor base to farming and upgrading Runes and finally crafting Enigma in the Horadric Cube.

What Is Enigma in Diablo 4 Season 15?

Enigma is a Unique Chest Armor Runeword that can be crafted using the Horadric Cube.

Its most important effect changes your Evade into Sorcerer's Teleport. Each Teleport costs 33 Primary Resource, but the mobility it provides can significantly speed up farming, dungeon clearing, and general movement.

Enigma also provides several powerful bonuses:

Movement Speed45%
Maximum Life40%
Damage Reduction12%

The combination of movement speed, skill levels, maximum life, damage reduction, and Teleport makes Enigma a highly desirable endgame Chest Armor for many different builds.

Enigma Recipe: Jah + Ith + Ber

The complete Enigma recipe is:

Common Chest Armor + Jah + Ith + Ber

The Rune order is:

Jah → Ith → Ber

Open the Horadric Cube, place the required Chest Armor and Runes inside, and then use Transmute to craft Enigma.

Because Jah and Ber are high-value Runes, make sure you have the correct materials before starting the craft.

What Chest Armor Should You Use?

The base item must be a Common-quality Chest Armor.

Magic, Rare, Legendary, and Unique Chest Armor cannot be used for this recipe.

For an endgame Enigma, an Ancestral Common Chest Armor is a strong choice. Using an Ancestral base allows you to create the Ancestral version of Enigma and gives you a higher Armor value from the base item.

When farming for a base, keep an eye on high-level Common Chest Armor instead of automatically salvaging every white item. You do not need to spend valuable materials trying to improve a temporary base if you are still working toward your final Enigma.

How to Get Jah, Ith, and Ber

The three Runes are the main part of the Enigma grind.

Ith

Ith is one of the easier Runes required for Enigma. You can obtain it through Rune drops or upgrade lower-tier Runes when you have enough materials.

Since Ith is much easier to replace than Ber or Jah, avoid spending high-tier Runes just to obtain it.

Ber

Ber is one of the most important materials in the Enigma recipe and can also be obtained by upgrading other high-tier Runes.

If you are specifically working toward Enigma, it is usually worth saving your Ber instead of using it for another expensive craft.

Jah

Jah is the other major bottleneck. You can obtain it directly or work toward it through the high-tier Rune upgrade system.

If you already have Ber and are building toward Jah, continue collecting high-tier Runes and use the Cube recipes when you have enough materials.

Rune Upgrade Route

Season 15 allows players to combine lower-tier Runes into higher-tier Runes. This makes excess Runes useful even when they are not part of your final build.

The important upgrade recipes include:

UpgradeRequired Materials
Tir → Eth3 Tir
Eth → Ith3 Eth
Ith → Tal3 Ith
Tal → Ral3 Tal
Ral → Ort3 Ral
Ort → Thul3 Ort
Thul → Amn3 Thul + Chipped Topaz
Amn → Sol3 Amn + Chipped Amethyst
Mal → Ist2 Mal + Flawless Amethyst
Ist → Vex2 Ist + Flawless Ruby
Vex → Ohm2 Vex + Flawless Emerald
Ohm → Lo2 Ohm + Flawless Diamond
Lo → Ber2 Lo + Grand Topaz
Ber → Jah2 Ber + Grand Sapphire

One important detail is that Sol does not directly upgrade into Mal. Mal is obtained separately before the high-tier Rune progression continues through Ist, Vex, Ohm, Lo, Ber, and Jah.

This means you should treat your Rune inventory as a long-term resource rather than immediately combining everything you find.

The Best Way to Farm Runes for Enigma

There is no need to rely on a single activity when farming for Enigma.

Run the endgame content you can clear efficiently and collect every useful Rune along the way. Activities such as high-level dungeons, Helltide, bosses, seasonal content, and other endgame activities can contribute to your Rune stockpile.

A practical progression looks like this:

Step 1: Collect low-tier Runes

Keep useful Runes instead of automatically converting or discarding them.

Step 2: Build Ith

Use direct drops and lower-tier Rune upgrades to secure the Ith required for Enigma.

Step 3: Save high-tier Runes

Once you begin obtaining Mal, Ist, Vex, Ohm, and Lo, think carefully before spending them.

Step 4: Work toward Ber

Two Lo Runes plus the required crafting material can be upgraded into Ber.

Step 5: Work toward Jah

Two Ber Runes plus a Grand Sapphire can be upgraded into Jah.

Step 6: Finish the Enigma recipe

Once you have Jah, Ith, and Ber, all that remains is finding the correct Chest Armor base and using the Horadric Cube.

How to Craft Enigma Step by Step

The final crafting process is straightforward.

1. Find a Common Chest Armor

Make sure it is the correct quality. An Ancestral Common Chest Armor is recommended if you want the Ancestral version of Enigma.

2. Collect the Three Runes

You need:

Jah
Ith
Ber

3. Open the Horadric Cube

Place the Chest Armor and all three Runes into the Cube.

4. Check the Rune Order

Use:

Jah → Ith → Ber

5. Transmute

Activate the Cube's Transmute function.

6. Receive Enigma

The Chest Armor will be converted into Enigma with its unique Teleport effect and other bonuses.

What About Stealth?

You do not need to wait for Enigma before upgrading your Chest Armor.

Stealth is an inexpensive early-game Runeword that uses:

Tal + Eth

It is particularly useful while leveling because it provides helpful mobility, attack speed, life, resource generation, and defensive bonuses.

For players who are still building their Rune collection, Stealth is a practical temporary Chest Armor. You can use it while farming the materials needed for Enigma rather than spending valuable high-tier Runes on another temporary upgrade.

Enigma vs. Stealth

Stealth is designed as an affordable progression option, while Enigma is a much more expensive endgame target.

If you are still leveling, Stealth is enough to keep your character moving efficiently.

Once your character reaches the endgame and you have access to the necessary high-tier Runes, Enigma becomes a much bigger upgrade because of its Teleport effect, +2 All Skills, Movement Speed, Maximum Life, and Damage Reduction.

This makes the progression simple:

Early Game → Stealth → Rune Farming → Ber/Jah → Enigma

Important Enigma Tips

Use a Common Chest Armor.
Do not put a Magic, Rare, Legendary, or Unique Chest Armor into the recipe.

Follow the Rune order.
The required sequence is Jah → Ith → Ber.

Consider an Ancestral base.
If you want an Ancestral Enigma, start with an Ancestral Common Chest Armor.

Save Ber and Jah.
These are the most expensive parts of the recipe, so avoid spending them without a clear plan.

Prepare your Resource generation.
Teleport costs 33 Primary Resource, so builds that can maintain their resource pool will get more value from Enigma's mobility.

Do not rely on the old Stealth exploit.
The early Season 15 bug involving multiple Ancestral Stealth items has been fixed. The intended way to obtain Enigma is the actual Jah + Ith + Ber recipe.

Enigma is one of the biggest chase D4 items in Season 15. Its combination of Sorcerer's Teleport, +2 All Skills, +45% Movement Speed, +40% Maximum Life, and 12% Damage Reduction makes it useful for a wide range of endgame characters.

The crafting process itself is easy. The real challenge is collecting Jah, Ith, and Ber.

Start by saving your Runes, build Ith through drops or upgrades, and gradually work your way through the high-tier Rune ladder toward Ber and Jah. While you are farming, use Stealth as an affordable temporary option.

Once you have the required Runes and a suitable Common Chest Armor, open the Horadric Cube, use Jah → Ith → Ber, and craft your Season 15 Enigma.
