Playing as a Druid in Diablo 4 offers an exciting mix of raw power and nature-based magic, but the class does come with its challenges. Physical builds often struggle against ranged enemies, while casters can be quite fragile. Thankfully, the game provides plenty of opportunities to enhance your build and overcome these obstacles. One such opportunity is the Level 15 class quest, "Spirits of the Lost Grove", which unlocks the Spirit Boons system—key to optimizing your Druid.
At Level 15, Druids gain access to the “Spirits of the Lost Grove” quest, found in the Priority Quests section. To start, you’ll need to conquer the Túr Dúlra Stronghold, a dangerous area overrun by hostile enemies.
Túr Dúlra is occupied by Baelgemoth, Infernal Tormenter, a powerful melee boss with devastating fire attacks. Before facing Baelgemoth, you must free the spirits of four Druids scattered throughout the Stronghold. Each spirit is guarded by an elite mini-boss that spawns when you interact with them. Ensure the area is clear, your health is full, and your cooldowns are ready before engaging. Additionally, upgrading your potions beforehand can make these encounters much easier.
When fighting Baelgemoth, watch out for his fire breath and teleportation attacks. Save your dodge ability for moments when he teleports behind you, and consider equipping fire-resistant gear to reduce the damage from his powerful attacks.
After defeating Baelgemoth and restoring peace to Túr Dúlra, head to the grove at the bottom of the Stronghold to meet Druid Ardreth, who will introduce you to the Spirit Animals. Here, you’ll use Druidic Spirit Offerings to unlock Spirit Boons, a system that provides powerful passive bonuses. Ardreth will then send you to the southeast to commune with the Spirit Lord, Gathlen.
To reach Gathlen, fight through poachers guarding the Spirit Lord’s Altar. Once there, Gathlen will assign you a new task: freeing his physical aspect from the Fainne Abandoned Grove.
Travel north to Fainne, where you’ll encounter a Goatmen ambush led by Gorefeast, a formidable elite enemy with two dangerous abilities. Focus on defeating Gorefeast first, as his special effects can make the battle overwhelming. After clearing the ambush, you can free Gathlen’s spirit and return to Túr Dúlra.
Once back in Túr Dúlra, place Gathlen’s skull on the altar to complete the quest. This unlocks the Spirit Boons system, allowing you to mix and match up to five powerful passive effects. These Boons are essential for Druids, offering bonuses that enhance damage, survivability, and utility for all builds.
