The T-Rex is one of the most powerful and visually striking Divine pets in Grow a Garden, introduced in the Prehistoric Event (Update 1.13). With a rare ability to manipulate fruit mutations, it's a prized asset for any serious gardener. Here's how you can obtain this beastly companion and what makes it so special.

How to Get the T-Rex

1. Hatch It from a Dinosaur Egg

The T-Rex can only be obtained by hatching a Dinosaur Egg — not to be confused with the Primal Egg — which was made available during the Prehistoric Event.

  • Hatch Time: 4 hours and 10 minutes
  • Drop Rate: 0.5% chance from the Dinosaur Egg

How to Get Dinosaur Eggs:

You have several ways to obtain Dinosaur Eggs:

  • Give Graham any pet (except dinosaurs): You'll have a chance to receive 1–3 Dinosaur Eggs.
  • Complete Dino Track Quests: These often reward Dinosaur Eggs.

Craft It Recipe:

  • 1x Common Egg
  • 1x Bone Blossom crop
  • 5,500,000 Sheckles

Crafting Time: 30 minutes

T-Rex Abilities & Traits

Trait: Apex Predator

Every ~20 minutes, the T-Rex will:

  • Eat a random mutation from any fruit in your garden (unless it's favorited).
  • Then roar and apply that mutation to 3–4 other fruits.
  • Works even with rare mutations like Dawnbound.
  • Does NOT consume or spread Gold or Rainbow variants.
  • If a fruit is favorited, T-Rex won't target it (with rare glitch exceptions).

Passive: Apex Predator (again)

The passive mirrors the main trait — reinforcing how powerful and game-changing the T-Rex's mutation manipulation ability is.

Hunger: 60,000

This high hunger requirement means it takes longer to level and use compared to standard pets, so keep your feeding resources stocked.

T-Rex Appearance

  • Body: Light green
  • Belly: Light brown
  • Size: Much larger than the player
  • Animation: Both player arms hold it while carried, shared with all pets from Dinosaur, Primal, and Zen Eggs
