The Hellfire Torch is one of the most interesting rewards added in Diablo 4 Season 15, but getting one starts with a much simpler task: collecting the three Prime Evil Splinters.

You need a Splinter of Terror, Splinter of Destruction, and Splinter of Hatred. Each one comes from the Hell versions of the Waking Nightmares associated with Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto. Once you have all three, you can turn them into a Wirt's Lucky Coin and use it to access the Pandemonium event in Old Tristram.

If you want to farm the D4 materials efficiently, the main goal is simple: spend as little time as possible on each run.

The Three Prime Evil Splinters

There are three materials required for the Hellfire Torch process:

  • Splinter of Terror — Echo of Diablo in The Labyrinth
  • Splinter of Destruction — Echo of Baal in Worldstone Keep
  • Splinter of Hatred — Echo of Mephisto in Durance of Hate

These encounters are based on some of the most recognizable locations from earlier Diablo games, but they have been rebuilt as Diablo 4 Waking Nightmares.

The Hell versions are the important ones for this farming process. They are available at higher Torment difficulties and are designed as more demanding endgame encounters.

Start With the Fastest Dungeon

If your goal is simply to collect the three Splinters, you do not necessarily need to spend equal amounts of time in all three locations.

For many characters, Worldstone Keep is an especially convenient farming target because a fast build can move through it efficiently and reach Echo of Baal without spending too much time on unnecessary enemies.

The important point is clear speed.

If you can finish Worldstone Keep significantly faster than the other two encounters, repeating it can be a practical way to build up Splinters. You can then change your farming route when you need a specific material.

This approach is particularly useful for characters that already have strong mobility, AoE damage, and enough survivability to handle the higher Torment levels comfortably.

How to Farm Worldstone Keep Efficiently

The basic loop is straightforward.

1. Enter the Hell version of Worldstone Keep

Choose the appropriate Waking Nightmare and begin the run at a Torment level your character can clear quickly.

Do not automatically choose the highest difficulty available. A slightly lower Torment level can be more efficient if it lets you kill enemies and bosses much faster.

2. Focus on Progress

There is little reason to spend a long time killing every monster on the way to the boss.

Use mobility skills to move through the dungeon and focus on enemies that actually block your progress.

Teleport-style movement is particularly useful for this kind of farming.

3. Defeat the Ancients

Continue through the encounter and deal with Madawc, Korlic, and Talic.

Save your major cooldowns when possible so that you can maintain a fast pace during the later sections.

4. Clear the Throne of Destruction

Move through the required enemy waves and continue toward the final encounter.

The goal is not to maximize experience from every monster. It is to reach Echo of Baal as quickly as possible.

5. Kill Echo of Baal and Reset

After defeating Baal, check your rewards and then reset the dungeon.

Repeat the process while keeping an eye on which Splinters you still need.

What If You Are Missing One Splinter?

This is where a flexible farming strategy becomes useful.

If you already have two of the three materials, there is no need to completely rebuild your farming routine. Continue using whichever Hell encounter you can clear most efficiently, or switch to the corresponding Prime Evil encounter when you want to target the missing Splinter.

For example, if you have Terror and Destruction but still need Hatred, moving to Durance of Hate gives you a direct route toward the Mephisto-related material.

Likewise, The Labyrinth becomes the natural choice when you are looking for the Terror Splinter.

The three encounters are all worth learning, so eventually you should be comfortable running whichever one fits your current goal.

Choose Your Torment Level Carefully

Higher Torment levels are attractive because they provide better endgame rewards, but faster is not always better just because the difficulty number is higher.

For Splinter farming, your best difficulty is the one where you can maintain a strong clear speed without frequent deaths or long boss fights.

A character that comfortably clears Torment X can often farm more efficiently than a character struggling through Torment XII.

Once your build becomes stronger, you can increase the difficulty and continue optimizing the same farming loop.

Build Priorities for Splinter Farming

There is no single required build for the Prime Evil encounters.

Instead, look for the same characteristics that make most endgame farming builds effective:

  • High movement speed
  • Strong AoE damage
  • Reliable single-target damage
  • Good defensive uptime
  • Short cooldowns
  • Easy access to mobility skills

Fast builds such as Whirlwind Barbarian or other high-mobility setups can be very comfortable for repeated dungeon runs.

The exact build matters less than how quickly and safely you can complete the encounter.

From Three Splinters to Hellfire Torch

Once you have collected one of each required material, the farming stage is finished.

Take the three Prime Evil Splinters to the Horadric Cube and combine them to create Wirt's Lucky Coin.

The Coin is then used at the fountain in Old Tristram to open the portal to the Pandemonium event.

Inside, you face the three Prime Evils together. Defeating them gives you the chance to obtain powerful rewards, including the Hellfire Torch.

The Torch is a Mythic Unique Charm, making the entire farming process worthwhile for players looking to push their Season 15 characters further.

Solo or Group Farming?

For the Splinter farming stage, solo play is usually the simplest option.

You control the pace, reset the dungeon immediately, and do not need to wait for other players.

The Pandemonium encounter is a different story. Grouping up can make the final fight easier, especially when everyone is prepared for the encounter.

If you are planning multiple Torch attempts, playing with friends can also make the overall process more convenient.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

One of the biggest mistakes is choosing a Torment level that is too difficult.

If a run takes much longer because enemies survive several extra attacks or the boss becomes difficult to kill, the higher difficulty may not actually improve your farming efficiency.

Another mistake is clearing every monster in the dungeon. Unless you specifically need experience or additional loot, unnecessary fights simply increase your run time.

Finally, do not stop after getting your first Hellfire Torch if you are looking for a better roll. The Torch has randomized stats, so getting another one may be worthwhile if you want stronger attributes or a more useful result for your build.

The Best Overall Farming Strategy

The most practical way to farm the three Prime Evil Splinters in Diablo 4 Season 15 is to focus on clear speed.

Start with the Hell encounter that your build can complete fastest. Worldstone Keep is a strong option for many fast builds, while The Labyrinth and Durance of Hate become important when you want to target the other Prime Evil encounters.

Keep your runs short, avoid unnecessary fights, and choose a Torment level that you can clear comfortably.

Once you have Splinter of Terror, Splinter of Destruction, and Splinter of Hatred, combine them into Wirt's Lucky Coin, head to Old Tristram, and enter the Pandemonium event.

From there, the final step is simple: defeat the three Prime Evils and hope the Hellfire Torch drops.

The farming process is ultimately an efficiency game. The faster you complete each run, the more chances you create for the Splinters you need.
