Major League Soccer (MLS) continues its rapid rise in quality and global appeal. What was once dismissed as a retirement destination for aging stars is now a competitive, evolving league making waves worldwide.
The 2024 MLS season ran from February to December, breaking records and delivering plenty of excitement. Inter Miami secured the Supporters' Shield and a controversial Club World Cup spot, while LA Galaxy lifted the MLS Cup for the sixth time after a 2-1 win over New York Red Bulls in the final.
Despite its unique calendar, MLS is still expected to be represented in the EA Sports FC 25 Team of the Season promo. While EA hasn't officially confirmed how the MLS TOTS will be delivered, we expect it to be part of a "Mixed League" squad as seen in EAFC 24 — though this year, we’re predicting nine standout cards instead of just seven.
Messi reunites with Suarez in style
The MLS forward line prediction is filled with familiar faces — and one of the greatest to ever play the game. Lionel Messi continues to light up the pitch with Inter Miami, scoring 21 goals and 11 assists in just 22 appearances. Even though Inter Miami fell to Atlanta United in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs, Messi’s individual brilliance is unquestionable. His presence alone has driven record-breaking attendances and a global spike in MLS interest.
Playing alongside him is Luis Suarez, another FC Barcelona legend. The Uruguayan showed he still has the magic touch, also scoring 21 goals during the 2024 campaign, helping Inter Miami top the table.
But the MLS Golden Boot went to Christian Benteke, who turned back the clock at DC United with 23 goals. The Belgian forward was clinical throughout the season despite his side finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference, missing out on the playoffs.
Predicted FC 25 MLS TOTS Attackers:
| Name | Position | Club | Nationality | Predicted Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lionel Messi | RW | Inter Miami | Argentina | 98 |
| Christian Benteke | ST | DC United | Belgium | 94 |
| Luis Suarez | ST | Inter Miami | Uruguay | 96 |
Puig leads the way despite injury heartbreak
MLS midfield talent continues to shine, led by Ricard Puig, who made headlines all year for LA Galaxy. The former Barcelona man tallied 17 goals and 12 assists during the regular season and playoffs. However, tragedy struck when Puig tore his ACL during the Western Conference Final, ruling him out of the championship match. Even so, his impact across the season makes him a near-lock for TOTS.
Joining him is Luciano Acosta, who shined for FC Cincinnati with 14 goals and 17 assists. His creativity and vision were unmatched in midfield, making him a fan favorite in Ultimate Team already.
The third midfield spot goes to Evander, who dazzled with 15 goals and 15 assists during his time with Portland Timbers before moving to FC Cincinnati. Despite both players missing out on MLS Cup glory, their stats speak volumes.
Predicted FC 25 MLS TOTS Midfielders:
| Name | Position | Club | Nationality | Predicted Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ricard Puig | CM | LA Galaxy | Spain | 94 |
| Evander | CM | FC Cincinnati | Brazil | 93 |
| Luciano Acosta | CAM | FC Dallas | Argentina | 94 |
Veteran experience dominates the backline
Defense wins championships — and that was evident in the 2024 MLS season. Steven Moreira was a rock for Columbus Crew, helping them finish second in the East while conceding just 40 goals. Playing mostly at right-back, the Cape Verdean was solid and even scored twice in 29 appearances.
Jordi Alba, another Barcelona alumni, continued to impress at Inter Miami. The 36-year-old was a constant attacking threat, with 5 goals and 11 assists from the left-back position. His veteran leadership was crucial in Inter Miami’s Supporters’ Shield-winning campaign.
The final spot goes to Yeimar Gomez of Seattle Sounders. The Colombian center-back anchored a defense that allowed just 35 goals — the fewest in the Western Conference. His inclusion in the 2024 MLS Best XI solidifies his spot as a TOTS contender.
Predicted FC 25 MLS TOTS Defenders:
| Name | Position | Club | Nationality | Predicted Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steven Moreira | RB | Columbus Crew | Cape Verde | 92 |
| Yeimar Gomez | CB | Seattle Sounders | Colombia | 93 |
| Jordi Alba | LB | Inter Miami | Spain | 95 |
As MLS continues to grow in stature, its presence in Ultimate Team will only get stronger. These predicted cards not only reward performance but offer exciting new options for creative squads in EA FC 25.
