In Hero Siege, Marauder has always been an easy class to recommend when you want to fight up close without playing a pure tank. That role fits Season 10 Ebontharn particularly well. Marauder is now free for all players, while the season’s new second talent tree gives the class more ways to specialize its damage and defenses. With Act 9, the revamped progression system, and three new Uber bosses also in the mix, there is plenty of new content where a durable melee build can put those strengths to work.

I would not build Marauder as a pure tank. Its real strength is being able to take a hit without losing the ability to keep attacking.
The class can use a very wide range of weapons, including swords, axes, maces, polearms, chainsaws, bows, guns, throwing weapons, and shields. That gives you plenty of room to adjust the build around whatever good drops you find during the campaign.
For a new Season 10 character, the simplest approach is to start with a strong damage skill, add enough Life and defenses to stay comfortable, and only start specializing once the main skill tree is established.
| Stat | Priority | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | High | Main physical damage scaling |
| Life | High | Keeps melee playstyle safe |
| Physical Damage | High | Improves core attacks |
| Armor | Medium-High | Reduces physical damage |
| Resistances | High | Important for elemental enemies |
| Crit | Medium | Stronger once damage is established |
The key is not to stack one defensive stat endlessly. Marauder already has the durability to survive mistakes, so once your defenses are comfortable, offensive scaling becomes increasingly valuable.
Season 10’s revised campaign makes leveling much less awkward than previous seasons. You now progress through the new Normal route toward level 100, with Act 9 extending the campaign before the revamped endgame difficulties begin.
During the early game, prioritize clear speed over perfect gear. Replace weak weapons frequently and keep your Life and resistances high enough that ordinary packs cannot overwhelm you.
Once your main skill starts clearing comfortably, stop spending time farming low-level upgrades. Push through the campaign and save serious gearing for the higher difficulties.
The new second talent-tree system gives Marauder more room to specialize than simply following one fixed setup. Season 10 also adds more than 100 Ether nodes and over 600 Incarnation nodes across the game, so endgame optimization has become much deeper.
This is where Marauder’s balanced nature becomes useful. You can invest into damage when your character feels too slow, then add defensive layers when higher-tier content starts punishing mistakes.
The new Abyssal Chest encounters are another good test. Pulling more levers increases both the danger and the eventual reward, so Marauder’s ability to survive close-range pressure can be useful when you decide to push the encounter harder.
If you’re starting fresh, I would keep the gearing process simple:
Early game: prioritize weapon damage and Life.
Mid game: add Strength, physical scaling, Armor, and resistances.
Endgame: specialize your talent tree and start optimizing critical and damage modifiers.
Don’t chase perfect gear too early. Marauder’s forgiving defensive profile means a character with average equipment but sensible stats will usually feel better than an over-specialized build with obvious defensive holes.
Marauder is not the fastest class in every situation, but that is not really the point. Its appeal is consistency: you can stay close to enemies, survive mistakes, and still build toward meaningful damage. With Season 10’s expanded talent and endgame systems, the class has more room to develop than it did with the older progression model. If a few gear slots are slowing down your progression, use Hero Siege Gold or Hero Siege Items can help fill those weaknesses while you continue building toward a stronger endgame setup.
