MLB 26 Wild Card Programs: How to Complete Them Fast

The Wild Card Programs in MLB The Show 26 are a straightforward way to add high-rated Postseason players to your Diamond Dynasty roster without spending Stubs.

There are currently three Wild Card matchup programs: Red Sox vs. Yankees, White Sox vs. Astros, and Cubs vs. Padres. Each program has a 25-point reward path and ends with a 99 OVR player. You can complete the programs through Moments and missions without needing exchanges or collections.

The basic strategy is simple: finish the five Moments first, claim the early rewards, and then use those players while working through the team missions and Parallel XP objectives.

Red Sox vs. Yankees Program

The Red Sox vs. Yankees Program rewards three 99 OVR players along the path: Willson Contreras at 5 points, Austin Wells at 15 points, and Ben Rice at 25 points.

The five Moments are:

  • Wishing Wells
  • Rice on a Roll
  • Kam Schlittler
  • Luis Goes Long
  • If there's a Willson, there's a way

Each Moment gives 2 points, so completing all five gives you 10 points.

The remaining missions are:

9 strikeouts with Red Sox players — 3 points

6 innings pitched with Yankees players — 3 points

2,026 Parallel XP with Red Sox and/or Yankees players — 4 points

2,026 Parallel XP with 2026 Postseason Series players — 5 points

Once you unlock Willson Contreras and Austin Wells, use them when they qualify for your remaining objectives. This allows you to work toward the team and Postseason PXP requirements without starting from scratch.

White Sox vs. Astros Program

The White Sox vs. Astros Program ends with 99 OVR Chase Meidroth. The path also includes Cam Smith at 5 points and Jeremy Peña at 15 points.

The five Moments are:

Mr. Smith Goes to Houston

Sam Saves the City

Peña Prepares for Leadoff

Cam Cuts the Lead

Chasing Momentum

Completing the five Moments gives another 10 points.

The four missions are:

19 hits with White Sox players — 3 points

4 home runs with Astros players — 3 points

2,026 Parallel XP with White Sox and/or Astros players — 4 points

2,026 Parallel XP with 2026 Postseason Series players — 5 points

This program is especially easy to work on through normal games because the hitting objectives can be combined with the PXP missions.

Cubs vs. Padres Program

The Cubs vs. Padres Program rewards 99 OVR Gavin Sheets at 25 points. You can also unlock Joe Musgrove at 5 points and Nico Hoerner at 15 points.

The five Moments are:

  1. Tatis Gets the Padres Rolling
  2. King Flirts with No-No in Game 1
  3. Musgrove Makes First Appearance Since 2024
  4. Hoerner Tallies Two Multi-Hit Games
  5. Sheets Goes Deep

All five Moments are worth 10 points in total.

The remaining missions are:

  • 6 hits with Cubs players — 3 points
  • 12 strikeouts with Padres players — 3 points
  • 2,026 Parallel XP with Cubs and/or Padres players — 4 points
  • 2,026 Parallel XP with 2026 Postseason Series players — 5 points

Joe Musgrove is useful after unlocking him because he can contribute to the Padres strikeout objective as well as the PXP missions. Nico Hoerner can similarly help with the Cubs hitting requirement.

The Best Order to Complete These Programs

There is no special reward for completing the Moments in a particular order, so the most practical approach is simply to clear all five before starting the longer mission grind.

Start with the Moments because they give you 10 points immediately.

After that, follow this order:

1. Complete all five Moments.

Get the first 10 points and unlock the early reward cards.

2. Add the new cards to your lineup.

Use the newly earned players whenever they qualify for the remaining objectives.

3. Build around the team missions.

For example, use Cubs hitters when working toward the Cubs hit requirement, or Padres pitchers when working toward the Padres strikeout requirement.

4. Stack Parallel XP objectives.

The team PXP mission and the 2026 Postseason Series PXP mission can progress during the same games if your lineup contains eligible players.

5. Finish any remaining statistics.

Once the PXP requirements are complete, clean up any unfinished hits, home runs, strikeouts, or innings.

Which Modes Are Best?

You do not have to play online games to complete these programs.

The missions can be completed through several modes, including Play vs CPU, Mini Seasons, Conquest, and Diamond Quest, as well as Ranked, Ranked Co-op, Battle Royale, Events, and Weekend Classic.

For players who simply want to finish the programs, offline modes are usually the easiest option.

Mini Seasons is a particularly useful choice because you can use the required players for several games while building Parallel XP at the same time.

How to Save Time on PXP

The biggest time saver is making your lineup work for more than one objective.

Suppose you are working on the White Sox vs. Astros Program. Instead of using one lineup to get the 19 White Sox hits and another lineup to complete the PXP mission, put eligible White Sox and Astros players into the same lineup whenever possible.

The same principle works for the other two programs.

You should also keep your newly unlocked Postseason players in the lineup if they qualify for the 2026 Postseason Series PXP mission. This allows your normal games to contribute toward multiple goals.

Don't Overcomplicate the Moments

The Moments are designed to recreate specific highlights from the Wild Card Series.

If one challenge takes several attempts, there is no reason to keep forcing it immediately. Move on to another Moment and return to the difficult one later.

Since every Moment provides the same 2-point reward within its program, the order does not affect your total progress.

The important thing is simply to complete all five.

Final Completion Strategy

For all three Wild Card Programs, the most efficient routine is:

Moments → early reward cards → team missions → Parallel XP → remaining objectives.

The five Moments provide 10 points, while the four missions provide the remaining 15 points needed to reach the 25-point final reward.

That means you do not need to spend MLB The Show 26 Stubs, complete collections, or rely on expensive market cards to finish these programs.

With the right lineup, the same games can contribute to team statistics, team Parallel XP, and 2026 Postseason Series Parallel XP at the same time.

For Diamond Dynasty players looking to add free high-rated cards, these three Wild Card Programs are worth completing. Start with the Moments, use the players you earn along the way, and let the remaining missions progress naturally through your regular games.
