This tier list will serve as a guide, helping you decide which weapons are worth focusing on and investing in. The rankings are based on overall performance, taking into account each weapon's DPS, special abilities, and how many descendants can benefit from using them. Keep in mind, that this list is for the preseason.
S-Tier Weapons
1. Thunder Cage
The Thunder Cage sits comfortably in the S-tier, boasting great all-around stats for both mobbing and bossing. Even after balance changes, it remains the best-in-class weapon for clearing out hordes of enemies, making it an essential pick for any situation where you need to deal with large numbers of foes efficiently.
2. Greg’s Reverse Fate
Greg’s Reverse Fate is potentially the highest DPS weapon in the game. Its comet-based ability deals immense damage, especially when all the comets hit and crit on a target. While its effectiveness depends on RNG, it outperforms most other weapons in sheer damage output, especially against stationary bosses.
3. Secret Garden
This weapon has one of the highest crit chances in the game and an exceptional special ability. The Secret Garden shines on descendants like AJ Jack and Kyle, providing both firearm damage and skill power buffs. This makes it versatile for different scenarios and enhances both weapon and skill damage.
4. Enduring Legacy
Arguably the most consistent and highest DPS weapon, the Enduring Legacy excels at boss fights. Its compatibility with fire-based characters like Essimo, Blair, and Lepic enhances its utility. Even non-fire descendants like Enzo and Valby can harness its power effectively, making it a universally strong choice.
A-Tier Weapons
1. Python
The Python is a strong A-tier weapon with excellent base stats. While it could be an S-tier contender with improved crit chance or ability, it remains effective on many characters as a reliable weak-point gun. It pairs well with Glay’s Massacre and other characters like Valby and Frina.
2. Afterglow
As a sniper rifle, Afterglow is exceptionally consistent in its performance. With strong crit chance and a beneficial special ability, it’s capable of taking out weak points and bosses with ease. This weapon is an excellent choice for those who prioritize precision and consistent damage.
3. Nzas Devotion
Nzas Devotion is the top-hand cannon in The First Descendant. It excels with its defense-reducing ability, making it valuable in both solo and group scenarios. Its versatility in lowering the defense of tanky bosses places it high in the A-tier.
4. Piercing Light
The Piercing Light is another powerful sniper rifle, known for its high damage output. Although it doesn’t offer the utility of the Afterglow, its raw damage makes it a top-tier choice for players who prefer sniping.
B-Tier Weapons
1. Peacemaker
A solid all-around pistol that deals good damage. Its special ability allows for increased ability damage at the cost of mana, making it a viable option on descendants with mana regeneration capabilities, such as Valby.
2. Vestigial Orgon
The best rocket launcher in the game for Glay, capable of pumping out substantial damage, especially in boss fights. However, it doesn’t offer much utility for other descendants, which limits its ranking.
3. Wave of Light
This weapon requires careful management of reload speed to maximize its crit chance boost. While its damage is respectable, its crit chance buff only applies to base crit, limiting its effectiveness compared to other weapons.
4. Blue Beetle
The Blue Beetle’s solid stats make it a good all-around weapon. While its crit chance buff is limited by only applying to base crit, it still offers decent DPS and utility for various descendants.
C-Tier Weapons
1. Final Masterpiece
A handgun with decent potential, but handguns currently struggle in the game’s meta. Its low magazine size and random buffs make it unreliable for consistent DPS.
2. Fallen Hope
Despite having a similar explosion effect to Thunder Cage, its damage and proc chance are significantly lower. It is outclassed in every way, making it a subpar choice, especially since it only fits Frina’s playstyle.
3. Clairvoyance
The Clairvoyance has some utility on Viasa due to its chill buff, but its potential is limited by being overshadowed by upcoming weapons that offer better synergy and debuff capabilities.
4. King’s Guard Lance
While it has a unique mechanic that reflects beams off a pylon, its effectiveness is hindered by the current state of beam weapons, which are generally underpowered. The limited AOE of the pylon further reduces its utility.
This tier list reflects the current state of weapons in The First Descendant during the preseason phase. With the Season 1 launch, buffs and adjustments are expected, which may shift these rankings. As new content is introduced, we will revisit this list to keep it up-to-date with the evolving meta.
