NBA 2K27 Season 2 introduces 18 GOAT Builds inspired by legendary NBA players and current stars. These special MyPLAYER builds break the usual attribute and physical limits of the standard Builder, giving players access to player profiles that cannot be recreated through a regular custom build.

The 18 builds are split across four unlock paths. Eight are available immediately, three come from the Season 2 reward track, five require specific REP ranks, and two are tied to Lifetime Challenges. The requirements vary considerably, so the best option depends on which player you want to use and how far you have progressed in NBA 2K27.

The following table lists every GOAT Build announced for Season 2, along with its position and unlock requirement.

These requirements fall into four categories: the GOAT Builds Builder, seasonal progression, REP progression, and Lifetime Challenges. Each path offers a different way to expand your available builds.

Eight GOAT Builds Available Immediately

Eight players are available through the new GOAT Builds Builder path when Season 2 begins. You do not need to reach a specific seasonal level or REP rank to access this initial selection.

The starting lineup includes Penny Hardaway, Gilbert Arenas, Klay Thompson, Carmelo Anthony, Andrei Kirilenko, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, and Dwight Howard.

These options cover all five basketball positions, with several choices for guards and small forwards. Players who want a perimeter scorer can look at Klay Thompson or Gilbert Arenas, while Carmelo Anthony and Kawhi Leonard offer different wing options. Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard are the two starting choices for players who prefer the frontcourt.

To get started, open the MyPLAYER Builder and select the GOAT Builds path. Choose an available player and review the build details before taking it into a game.

GOAT Builds use player-specific attributes and signature animations, so they work differently from standard custom builds. Check each build's strengths and limitations instead of choosing one based on the player's name alone.

Season 2 Rewards: Magic Johnson, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kobe Bryant

Three more GOAT Builds are available through the main Season 2 reward track. Players earn Season XP by playing eligible modes and advance through seasonal levels to claim these rewards.

Magic Johnson — Level 26

Magic Johnson unlocks at Season Level 26. His GOAT Build is designed around the legendary point guard's distinctive playing style.

Players who want Magic should make seasonal progression a priority. Earn XP through your regular activities and claim the build once you reach the required level.

Dirk Nowitzki — Level 33

Dirk Nowitzki becomes available at Season Level 33. The former Dallas Mavericks star gives players another option at power forward.

Reaching this milestone requires more seasonal progress than unlocking Magic Johnson. If Dirk is your main target, keep track of your level and focus on activities that award Season XP.

Kobe Bryant — Level 37

Kobe Bryant is the final GOAT Build among the three featured seasonal rewards, unlocking at Level 37. This version represents a younger Kobe.

Because the requirement is close to the end of the main seasonal progression track, start earning XP early rather than leaving the grind until the final days. You can progress through eligible activities in The City, MyCAREER, and MyTEAM.

These three GOAT Builds are part of the main Season 2 rewards, so check the in-game track for the latest requirements and claim each reward when it becomes available.

REP GOAT Builds: Ray Allen, Hakeem Olajuwon, Derrick Rose, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James

Five GOAT Builds are tied to REP ranks. Unlike seasonal rewards, these unlocks depend on your competitive progression.

GOAT BuildRequired REP Rank
Ray AllenElite V
Hakeem OlajuwonElite V
Derrick RoseElite VIII
Michael JordanElite VIII
LeBron JamesLegend I

Ray Allen and Hakeem Olajuwon are the first targets in this group, both requiring Elite V. Derrick Rose and Michael Jordan require Elite VIII, while LeBron James is tied to Legend I.

If you are already close to one of these ranks, check your current REP progress before deciding which build to pursue. Season 2 also introduces a 25% REP boost for Crew Divisions games, making those matches worth considering if you regularly play with a group.

Remember that REP and Season Level are separate progression systems. Earning seasonal XP will not automatically satisfy a REP requirement, so choose activities based on the unlock you want.

Lifetime Challenge GOAT Builds

Anthony Edwards and Wilt Chamberlain are unlocked through Lifetime Challenges. These rewards require cumulative challenge progress rather than a specific Season Level or REP rank.

Anthony Edwards: Complete 300 Lifetime Challenges.

Wilt Chamberlain: Complete 350 Lifetime Challenges.

Wilt has the higher requirement, making his build a longer-term target for players who have not completed many challenges yet.

Open your Lifetime Challenges menu and check your current progress before starting a dedicated grind. Completing objectives during your usual games is a practical way to work toward these milestones without spending every session on a single task.

If you are still far from 300 or 350 completed challenges, consider unlocking one of the starting builds first while continuing to make progress toward the Lifetime Challenge rewards.

Are GOAT Builds Better Than Standard MyPLAYER Builds?

GOAT Builds are designed to recreate the attributes and playing style of specific NBA stars. Their physical specifications and attributes can exceed the normal limits of the MyPLAYER Builder, giving them capabilities that standard custom builds cannot match in the same way.

They are not completely customizable, however. Signature animations and player-specific features are locked to preserve each star's identity. Players can still customize Badges, Cap Breakers, and Takeovers.

Before choosing a GOAT Build, consider the position you prefer, the player's style, and the unlock requirement. An immediately available build may be the most practical choice if you want to try the feature without a lengthy grind. Players who want a particular legend may need to work through the Season reward track, REP ranks, or Lifetime Challenges.

A GOAT Build is not automatically the best option for every mode or playstyle. Review its available attributes and features in-game before committing to it.

Do NBA 2K27 GOAT Builds Cost VC?

The announced unlock paths for the 18 GOAT Builds are based on gameplay progression: the Builder path, Season 2 levels, REP ranks, and Lifetime Challenges. There is no confirmed separate VC price for unlocking each individual GOAT Build.

Creating or upgrading a MyPLAYER may involve other in-game requirements, so check the relevant menus for any costs before proceeding. Do not assume that buying VC will automatically unlock a build tied to a REP rank or Lifetime Challenge milestone.

If you plan to upgrade your player for competitive games, review the build's requirements and eligible upgrades before spending NBA 2K27 VC.

Which GOAT Build Should You Unlock First?

The right choice depends on your current progress and the player you want to use.

If you want to get started immediately, choose from the eight builds available through the Builder. If your goal is to unlock another NBA legend through seasonal progression, Magic Johnson at Level 26 is the earliest of the three main-track rewards, followed by Dirk Nowitzki at Level 33 and Kobe Bryant at Level 37.

Players focused on competitive progression can work toward Ray Allen or Hakeem Olajuwon at REP Elite V before aiming for the higher REP requirements. Those who prefer completing objectives over climbing REP ranks can make steady progress toward Anthony Edwards and Wilt Chamberlain through Lifetime Challenges.

NBA 2K27 Season 2 offers 18 GOAT Builds across several progression paths. Check the requirements for your preferred player, track your progress, and focus on the unlock route that fits the way you play.
