Path of Exile 2 features plenty of optional areas and hidden character upgrades that are easy to miss during the main progression. One particularly useful secret is Navali’s Rest, a hidden area that rewards your character with a permanent +5% Maximum Mana upgrade.
This bonus can be valuable for mana-intensive builds, especially characters that rely heavily on skills, spells, or abilities with frequent mana costs. However, reaching Navali’s Rest requires completing several objectives and three character trials before the shrine becomes accessible.
Navali’s Rest is a hidden optional area connected to the Isle of Kin questline. Rather than simply finding the location and interacting with a shrine, you must first rescue Matiki, discover the Eye of Hinekora, and complete three underwater tests.
Once you successfully reach Navali’s resting place and interact with the shrine, your character receives a permanent +5% Maximum Mana upgrade.
Unlike temporary buffs or equipment bonuses, this upgrade directly improves your character’s maximum mana and remains part of your character progression.

Your journey begins on the Isle of Kin. Sail to the island and make your way through the Volcanic Warrants until you reach Thyron’s Throne.
Inside, you must defeat Gruto, Lord of King. After defeating the boss, you can rescue Matiki and continue the quest.
This step is important because Matiki provides the information needed to locate the Eye of Hinekora.
After rescuing Matiki, return to King’s March and speak with him near Makoro’s ship.
Matiki will reveal the location of the Eye of Hinekora. Set sail to the newly revealed destination to continue the quest.
The area contains an underwater passageway that leads to the three tests required to access Navali’s resting place.
The Eye of Hinekora contains three character tests. You need to complete all three before you can proceed.
The tests are associated with three characters:
· Kum’s Test — Enamahu
· Mata’s Test — Taho
· Rakata’s Test — Tasalio
Take your time with each test and make sure all three are completed before leaving the area. Skipping or improperly completing one of them can cause problems when attempting to activate the shrine later.
After completing the three tests, proceed to the Silent Hall.
Follow the long hallway until you reach Navali’s resting place. The location is recognizable by its frozen ice coffin or shrine.
When you approach the resting place, spirit enemies will appear. Defeat them before interacting with the shrine.
Once the enemies have been dealt with, interact with Navali’s shrine. Your character will trigger a reflection animation, which indicates that the hidden reward sequence has been activated.
After completing the interaction, you should receive the permanent +5% Maximum Mana upgrade.
One easily overlooked step occurs after interacting with the grave.
Do not immediately leave the area.
After looking into the reflection, make sure you speak with Navali’s spirit. Completing this dialogue helps advance the quest state correctly.
If you leave immediately after receiving the visual effect, the quest may not appear to progress as expected.
Navali’s Rest can sometimes behave strangely due to instance or quest-state issues. Two problems are particularly common.
If the map continues to show Navali’s Rest as incomplete even though you have already received the mana bonus or obtained the rune from the grave, this is generally a visual bug.
You do not necessarily need to repeat the entire sequence.
Instead, open your character sheet and check your maximum mana. If the permanent increase has already been applied, the map icon can safely be ignored.
If the shrine cannot be clicked, your instance or trial progression may have become stuck. This can happen if you joined another player’s instance or passed through the trials under unusual circumstances.
A useful solution is to create a completely new instance:
1. Open the waypoint map.
2. Ctrl + Left Click the relevant waypoint.
3. Choose the option to create a new instance.
4. Enter the area again.
5. Complete all three tests solo.
6. Return to the Silent Hall and try the shrine again.
Creating a fresh instance can reset the area’s progression and allow the shrine interaction to become available.
A permanent 5% increase may look modest, but its value depends heavily on your build.
Characters with large mana pools can gain a meaningful amount of additional resource capacity, while mana-intensive builds may appreciate the extra room for sustained skill usage. It can also provide more flexibility when balancing mana costs against regeneration, leech, recovery, or other resource mechanics.
Because the reward is a permanent character upgrade rather than a temporary item effect, it is worth completing even if the bonus does not immediately transform your build.
Players optimizing their progression can also consider how their available PoE 2 Currency and gear interact with their mana requirements, particularly when improving equipment and building around resource-intensive skills.
For a straightforward progression path, remember the sequence:
Rescue Matiki → Return to King’s March → Discover the Eye of Hinekora → Sail to the Eye → Complete Enamahu, Taho, and Tasalio → Enter the Silent Hall → Defeat the spirits → Interact with Navali’s shrine → View the reflection → Talk to Navali’s spirit → Receive +5% Maximum Mana
Following this order minimizes the chance of missing a quest-state trigger.
If Navali’s Rest still appears incomplete after finishing the sequence, do not immediately repeat everything.
First, check your character’s maximum mana and verify whether the permanent upgrade has already been applied. If the bonus is present, the map marker is likely only displaying an incorrect quest state.
If the bonus is missing and the shrine remains inaccessible, creating a new instance and completing the three tests again is the most practical troubleshooting step.
For players working toward more efficient character progression, understanding these permanent upgrades alongside your equipment and buying PoE 2 Items can help ensure that no easily obtainable character bonuses are overlooked.
Navali’s Rest is one of the more easily missed optional rewards in Path of Exile 2, but the process becomes straightforward once you know the correct sequence. Rescue Matiki, locate the Eye of Hinekora, complete the three tests, and reach the Silent Hall to access Navali’s resting place.
Remember to interact with the shrine, watch the reflection, and speak with Navali’s spirit before leaving. If the quest marker remains unchecked, verify your character sheet first. If the shrine refuses to activate, create a fresh instance and complete the three tests again on your own.
With the process completed correctly, you can permanently add +5% Maximum Mana to your character and move on with your Path of Exile 2 progression.
