If you are working on Ascending the Mountain Stage 2 in ARC Raiders, you will need 2 Sentinel Firing Cores to complete the objective. The material can be frustrating to find if you do not know which ARC enemies to target, but the farming process becomes much easier once you focus on the right locations.

The best method is to hunt Sentinels while checking ARC Couriers along your route. Instead of spending an entire raid searching the map, you can follow a short route, check several potential locations, extract, and repeat.

How to Get Sentinel Firing Cores

There are two main sources worth knowing about.

The first is Sentinels. These are dangerous ARC units that operate from elevated positions and use powerful long-range attacks. They are very different from ordinary ARC turrets, so make sure you are targeting the correct enemy.

The second source is ARC Couriers. These flying transport units can contain valuable loot and give you another chance to find a Firing Core. They are not something you should chase across the entire map, but they are definitely worth opening when one appears near your farming route.

For players who only need two Cores, combining both sources is usually the most practical approach.

Best Maps for Sentinel Firing Core Farming

MapBest LocationsFarming ValueRecommended Use
Dam BattlegroundsResearch & Administration, Breach, Pipeline TowerHighBest overall choice
Buried CityTown Hall, southern road, Santa Maria HousesGoodBest alternative
SpaceportDeparture, Control Tower, South Trench TowerModerateFarm while doing other objectives
The Blue GatePilgrim's Peak, Outer GatesModerateBackup option

1. Dam Battlegrounds

Dam Battlegrounds is the first map I would choose for this farm.

The main advantage is the compact route between several useful Sentinel locations. Start at Research & Administration and check the elevated area around the blue exterior stairs.

After that, move toward Breach and check the high ground on both sides. The area around Pipeline Tower is another useful stop before you decide whether to extract.

A simple route is:

Research & Administration → Breach → Pipeline Tower → ARC Couriers → Extract

This keeps your travel time relatively low and lets you check multiple locations during one run.

2. Buried City

Buried City is a good backup if you do not want to run Dam Battlegrounds.

Start around Town Hall, particularly the elevated area around the yellow clock tower. Then check the southern road and structures around the overpass.

The Santa Maria Houses area is also worth checking when it is close to your route.

Buried City can be especially useful if you are already farming other resources there and do not want to spend time changing your usual route.

3. Spaceport

Spaceport has several elevated areas that can be useful for Sentinel hunting.

Check around Departure, the Control Tower, and South Trench Tower.

The main downside is the size of the map. You can spend more time traveling between locations, so I would not make Spaceport the first choice if your only goal is getting two Firing Cores.

4. The Blue Gate

The Blue Gate is another option when the other maps are not convenient.

Look around Pilgrim's Peak and the elevated concrete structures near the Outer Gates.

It is better treated as a secondary farming location rather than your main dedicated Core farm.

Recommended Farming Route

For the fastest and simplest approach, start a run on Dam Battlegrounds and head directly toward Research & Administration.

Check the Sentinel location around the blue stairs first. If a Sentinel is present, use cover and take it down before moving on.

Next, rotate toward Breach and check both elevated sides of the area. If you still need another opportunity, continue toward Pipeline Tower.

Keep an eye out for ARC Couriers during the entire route. If one is nearby, open it for an additional chance at useful loot.

Once you have checked the main locations, do not spend several extra minutes searching random buildings. If you did not get the Core, extract and start another run.

This is usually more efficient than turning one unsuccessful run into a long loot expedition.

How to Fight Sentinels

Sentinels can deal serious damage, especially when you are caught in the open.

The safest strategy is to fight from cover. Use buildings, walls, rocks, or other objects to block incoming fire, then peek out when you have an opportunity to shoot.

Look for the yellow weak point and focus your attacks there. Medium- and long-range weapons are generally easier to use because they allow you to maintain some distance from the Sentinel.

An EMP Grenade can also help create an opening during the fight.

Do not rush toward the Sentinel immediately after destroying it. Other players may hear the fight and arrive looking for an easy third-party opportunity. Secure the loot and make sure the surrounding area is safe before continuing.

Inventory and Extraction Tips

Inventory management is important when farming specific materials.

Before starting a run, leave enough space for the Sentinel Firing Core and other useful materials. There is no reason to fill your backpack with low-value ARC Raiders Items and then have to throw something away when you finally find the Core.

Once you obtain a Core, remember that extraction is the real goal. Do not take unnecessary fights simply because you already have the item you need.

If you already have both Cores required for Ascending the Mountain Stage 2, there is also little reason to keep farming them unless you need additional materials for other progression.

Sentinel vs. ARC Courier

If you are wondering which source deserves more attention, the answer is simple: Sentinels should be your main target.

ARC Couriers are best treated as bonus opportunities. Open them when they are already on your route, but do not spend several minutes traveling across the map just to reach one.

A good farming run should have a clear goal: check the important Sentinel locations, open convenient Couriers, then extract.

Farming Sentinel Firing Cores does not have to be a long grind in ARC Raiders.

For most players, Dam Battlegrounds is the best place to start. Check Research & Administration, rotate through Breach, then visit the Pipeline Tower area before extracting. Open nearby ARC Couriers whenever possible for additional loot opportunities.

If you need a backup, Buried City is the next map worth trying, while Spaceport and The Blue Gate are better suited to players who are already running those maps for other objectives.

The key is to keep your runs short and repeatable. You only need 2 Sentinel Firing Cores for Ascending the Mountain Stage 2, so there is no reason to spend an entire raid searching every corner of the map.

Find the Sentinel, target its weak point, secure the Core, and extract. Repeat the route until you have everything you need, then move on to the next Project objective.
