MS Classic World: Crafting and Citizenship Systems Explained

MapleStory Classic World adds two systems that were not part of the original MapleStory: Crafting and Citizenship. Both give players more ways to make useful items and save money while exploring Victoria Island. Instead of relying only on monster drops, players can craft equipment, collect materials, and gain benefits from joining a town. These features also give players more goals between levels. Learning how both systems work early can help you manage MapleStory Classic World Mesos and prepare for the next stage of character growth.

MS Classic World: Crafting and Citizenship Systems Explained

Crafting Unlocks at Level 10

Crafting becomes available when your character reaches level 10. You can then open the Crafting Journal and choose from six professions. Each profession has its own trainer and purpose. Making items grants profession experience and unlocks more recipes as your skill grows. Keep in mind that your character’s base level must be at least five times your profession level. Some recipes also require a specific location, such as the Anvil in Perion, so check the requirements before gathering materials.

Meet the Six Crafting Trainers

Each profession covers a different part of item making. Smithing turns raw ores into ingots and basic materials, while Weaponcrafting lets you forge weapons. Tailoring focuses on cloth garments, and Woodcrafting uses wood to make useful items. Leatherworking handles leather materials, while Arcforge offers its own crafting path. You can find the trainer details in the table below.

Gather Materials and Make Useful Gear

Crafting works best when you collect materials while training and exploring. Items such as Bronze Ore, Pig Ribbons, and animal fur can become useful resources for recipes. Rather than selling every material you find, check the Crafting Journal to see whether it is needed for an item you want to make. Crafted gear can help you keep up with your character’s level, and making items also raises your profession experience. Remember that some recipes need a specific crafting location, so plan your trips before you start making equipment.

Citizenship Opens at Level 12

Once your character reaches level 12, you can join either Henesys or Kerning City through the Citizenship system. Arthur handles registrations in Henesys, while Roxy manages them in Kerning City. You become a citizen by signing an Oath of Citizenship. Citizenship gives you several useful benefits:

  • Exclusive shop items: Access specialty goods sold in your chosen town.
  • Lower taxi fares: Spend less on regular cab rides.
  • Cheaper storage services: Save Mesos when storing items.
  • General store discounts: Pay less for everyday supplies.

These savings may seem small at first, but they can add up as you travel often and manage your inventory.

Raise Your Citizenship Grade

Joining a town is only the first step. Each city has a Community Board with daily and weekly requests for residents. Completing these tasks earns Contribution points, which raise your citizenship grade and help unlock better benefits. Check the board regularly so you do not miss requests that fit your current level or available time. Since the system rewards steady progress, completing a few tasks during your normal play sessions can be easier than leaving them all until later.

Choose the Town That Fits Your Needs

You can belong to only one town at a time, but you are not locked into that choice forever. If the other town better suits your needs, you can renounce your current citizenship and register with the new one. Before switching, consider which local shops and services you use most often. Henesys and Kerning City both offer savings, so the best choice depends on where you spend more time and which benefits matter most.

Build Your Progress Through Crafting and Citizenship

Crafting and Citizenship can support each other as you level. Crafting gives you another way to turn gathered materials into useful equipment, while citizenship helps reduce the cost of travel, storage, and supplies. Start collecting materials early, check your recipes as your profession grows, and complete town requests when you have time. If you need extra currency for equipment and other expenses, cheap GMSCW Mesos may be another option to consider alongside the Mesos you earn from quests, crafting, and monster drops.
