Women’s football continues to rise in popularity globally, and nowhere is that more evident than in England. Since the Lionesses’ iconic Euro 2022 victory over Germany at Wembley, the Women’s Super League (WSL) has become increasingly competitive. Powerhouses like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City are in a thrilling battle for supremacy.

This season, Chelsea are once again leading the charge and are on track to clinch their sixth consecutive title, this time under new manager Sonia Bompastor. Arsenal, now managed by Renee Slegers after Jonas Eidevall’s October 2024 departure, are close behind. As the season nears its end, attention turns to the WSL Team of the Season (TOTS) – both in real life and in EA Sports FC 25, where TOTS players receive significantly boosted, highly coveted cards.

With the FC 25 WSL TOTS expected to drop on Friday, May 2nd, here's our predicted starting XI based on the standout performers of the season.

Defenders

Chelsea lead the way with a rock-solid backline

Every predicted TOTS defender hails from one of the league’s top four clubs, reflecting the gulf in class this season. In goal, Hannah Hampton (Chelsea) earns the nod after cementing her role as the club’s number one, starting all 18 WSL matches and making crucial saves while showcasing excellent distribution.

She’s backed by teammates Lucy Bronze and Millie Bright. Bronze, a summer signing from Barcelona, has seamlessly returned to WSL life, while club captain Bright has brought consistency and leadership at center-back.

Maya Le Tissier (Manchester United) joins them after orchestrating the league’s most resilient defense, with United conceding just nine goals. Completing the backline is Katie McCabe (Arsenal), a long-time Gunner who has once again proven invaluable down the left flank.

Notably absent is Alex Greenwood (Man City), who missed much of the season due to injury. Her absence has been keenly felt by a struggling City defense.

Predicted WSL TOTS Defenders:

Hannah Hampton (GK, Chelsea, England) – 93

Lucy Bronze (RB, Chelsea, England) – 94

Maya Le Tissier (CB, Man Utd, England) – 93

Millie Bright (CB, Chelsea, England) – 94

Katie McCabe (LB, Arsenal, Ireland) – 94

Midfielders

The future of England is here – and shining bright

England fans can be excited about the future, with midfield stars like Jess Park and Grace Clinton lighting up the WSL this season. Park has become a key figure at Man City, contributing with four goals and one assist in 17 matches, while tirelessly linking play.

Meanwhile, Clinton has dazzled at Manchester United, scoring seven in 17 matches after returning from a successful loan at Spurs. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder continues to grow into one of England’s most promising talents.

Joining them is Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert, who has quietly had an outstanding campaign. Her tireless work and clutch goals – including a game-winner at Man City – have been pivotal to Chelsea’s title push.

Predicted WSL TOTS Midfielders:

Jess Park (CM, Man City, England) – 94

Erin Cuthbert (CM, Chelsea, Scotland) – 93

Grace Clinton (CAM, Man Utd, England) – 95

Attackers

A lethal Arsenal duo and the league’s top scorer lead the line

The WSL is full of attacking talent, and narrowing it down to just three forwards was no easy task. Notably, stars like Lauren James and Guro Reiten miss out here – though they could feature in EAFC 25 via SBCs due to their popularity and meta status.

Instead, Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo lead the way. Caldentey has been a revelation since her summer move from Barcelona, contributing seven goals and four assists. Russo, now fully settled after her switch from Man Utd, has netted 11 goals in 18 games – the second-highest in the league.

Topping the scoring charts is Khadija "Bunny" Shaw (Man City), who has scored 12 despite missing four games through injury. Her absence has exposed City’s overreliance on her talent, underlining her status as the WSL’s most dangerous striker.

Predicted WSL TOTS Attackers:

Alessia Russo (ST, Arsenal, England) – 95

Khadija Shaw (ST, Man City, Jamaica) – 96

Mariona Caldentey (LW, Arsenal, Spain) – 94

With the WSL title race heading into its final stretch, this predicted Team of the Season celebrates the league's best and brightest. As EA Sports FC 25 prepares to drop these boosted cards, fans will be eager to see how their favorite players are represented — and which overpowered TOTS cards will dominate Ultimate Team.
