The 8th Inning XP Path is now live in MLB The Show 26, giving Diamond Dynasty players another major progression target. The path goes all the way to 275,000 XP, with the biggest reward waiting at the final milestone: a choice between two 99 OVR Inning Bosses, Ken Griffey Jr. and Roy Campanella.

There are also two 99 OVR players along the way. Mule Suttles becomes available at 47,500 XP, while Jake Arrieta is unlocked at 160,000 XP. That makes the 8th Inning Path worth working through even before reaching the final Boss Choice Pack.

For players specifically chasing Griffey Jr., the goal is simple: stack as many active missions as possible, use the game modes that fit those missions, and keep pushing toward 275,000 XP.

8th Inning XP Path Rewards

The 8th Inning XP Path contains 35 reward milestones. The major player rewards are spread throughout the path, with packs, MLB The Show 26 Stubs and other items filling the remaining levels.

The final Boss Choice Pack contains two 99 OVR players: Finest Ken Griffey Jr. at center field and Hall of Fame Roy Campanella at catcher.

There are also 11 The Show Packs, five Ballin' is a Habit Packs, two Headliners Packs, Headliners Pack 22, Headliners Pack 23, an August Spotlight Player Pack, a Deluxe Moonshot Pack and an 85+ Live Series Pack along the path.

How to Earn 8th Inning XP Faster

The most important thing is to avoid treating the XP Path as a separate grind. The current missions are designed so that several objectives can be completed during the same Diamond Dynasty games.

The first Drop Missions provide a useful chunk of XP:

5 Wins: 4,000 XP
500 PXP with Cornerstone Series players: 5,500 XP
30 Hits in Ranked: 7,500 XP
41 Extra-Base Hits: 7,500 XP
63 Runs: 7,500 XP

The four missions that can be completed across the broader group of offline and online modes add up to 24,500 XP. The 30-hit mission is specifically tied to Solo or Co-op Ranked.

That means you should check the mission requirements before choosing a game mode. If you can work toward several objectives in the same game, your XP progression becomes much more efficient.

Use Mini Seasons for Offline Grinding

Mini Seasons is a convenient option for players who prefer offline Diamond Dynasty games.

The current 8th Inning missions allow several objectives to progress in Mini Seasons, including wins, Cornerstone Series PXP, extra-base hits and runs. You can also work on missions from other active programs at the same time.

Build your lineup around the players and series required by your current missions, then let the same games count toward multiple objectives.

This is more efficient than switching between separate modes for every individual mission.

Conquest and Diamond Quest Are Also Useful

Conquest and Diamond Quest are good alternatives when you want to combine XP progress with other Diamond Dynasty rewards.

Both modes are included among the eligible modes for several current 8th Inning missions. If you still need runs, extra-base hits or Cornerstone Series PXP, these games can contribute toward those totals while you work through the map or complete Diamond Quest content.

The best mode depends on which missions you still have left. There is no reason to force yourself into one activity if another mode can complete several objectives at once.

Ranked Players Have an Extra Target

Players who already spend time in Ranked should pay attention to the 30 Hits in Ranked mission.

It awards 7,500 XP and requires 30 hits across Solo or Co-op Ranked. Since it is not available in Mini Seasons, Conquest or Play vs CPU, Ranked players should naturally work this mission into their normal multiplayer sessions rather than creating a separate grind.

Get the 30,000 XP Voucher From the Previous Inning

One of the biggest shortcuts is tied to the previous XP Path.

Collecting both 7th Inning XP Reward Path Bosses gives you a voucher that can be redeemed for 30,000 XP in the 8th Inning XP Path.

This is a major boost toward the 275,000 XP target.

If you already own both 7th Inning Bosses, make sure to claim the voucher before spending a long session grinding XP. It effectively removes a large portion of the distance between your current progress and the final Boss Choice Pack.

The 8th Inning Path also includes a collection involving its own two Bosses that provides a voucher for the following 9th Inning Path, so keeping track of these Boss collections is worthwhile.

99 OVR Ken Griffey Jr. Breakdown

Ken Griffey Jr. is the headline reward for many players.

The 99 OVR Finest Griffey has 103 Contact vs L, 107 Contact vs R, 125 Power vs L and 111 Power vs R, along with 88 Vision, 105 Clutch, 93 Fielding and 86 Speed.

His offensive profile is built around power without sacrificing contact. The 125 Power vs L rating is particularly strong, while his 93 Fielding and 86 Speed give him enough defensive value to remain a strong option in center field.

The card also has several useful hitting quirks, including Dead Red, Breaking Ball Hitter, First-Pitch Hitter and Bad Ball Hitter.

For players who want a powerful center fielder with strong defensive attributes, Griffey is an obvious target from the final Boss Pack.

Griffey Jr. vs Roy Campanella

The final decision comes down to your roster because these two cards fill completely different positions.

Contact R107104
Power L125120

Griffey offers more speed and a stronger overall center-field profile, while Campanella provides excellent contact, power and vision at catcher.

If your outfield is the position that needs an upgrade, Griffey makes sense. If you need a top-tier catcher, Campanella can be the more useful addition.

The choice is permanent within the Boss Pack, so check your lineup before selecting your reward.

Other Content to Complete Alongside the XP Path

The 8th Inning release also arrived alongside new Diamond Dynasty content, including September Spotlight Drop 3.

That program includes 99 OVR Brandon Lowe, along with Pavin Smith and Rhett Lowder. Its missions include Parallel XP, home runs and strikeouts and can be completed across many of the same modes used for the 8th Inning missions.

This creates a good opportunity to progress multiple programs at once. Put the required players into your lineup and let Mini Seasons, Conquest, Diamond Quest or other eligible modes count toward several objectives simultaneously.

8th Inning XP Checklist

If your main target is the 99 OVR Griffey Jr., follow this order:

  • Check all current 8th Inning missions before starting a grind.
  • Redeem the 30,000 XP voucher if you collected both 7th Inning Bosses.
  • Complete the easy wins and PXP missions first.
  • Use Mini Seasons, Conquest or Diamond Quest to stack multiple objectives.
  • Complete the Ranked hits mission during normal Ranked play if you play online.
  • Claim Mule Suttles at 47,500 XP.
  • Claim Jake Arrieta at 160,000 XP.
  • Continue stacking active missions until reaching 275,000 XP.
  • Choose Griffey Jr. or Campanella based on the position your lineup needs most.

The 8th Inning XP Path gives MLB The Show 26 players a clear target at 275,000 XP, with two 99 OVR Bosses waiting at the finish line.

Ken Griffey Jr. brings elite power, strong contact and a well-rounded center-field profile, while Roy Campanella gives players another high-level option behind the plate. Before making the final choice, look at your current lineup rather than simply choosing the player with the bigger name.

For the fastest progression, the key is stacking missions instead of grinding one objective at a time. Use the 30,000 XP voucher from the previous Inning if you have it, combine 8th Inning missions with other active Diamond Dynasty programs, and make every game count toward multiple goals.

Once you reach 275,000 XP, the choice is yours: bring The Kid back into center field or add Roy Campanella behind the plate.
