One of the most important decisions for Madden 22 is which NFL player will be the cover athlete. Here my Madden 22 cover athlete predictions:
The most obvious choice for the Madden 22 cover is reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. He's fresh off of an MVP win, and the last two Madden covers have been the previous year's MVP winner.
I could see EA Sports trying to add more features to encourage people to run the ball in Madden 22. So, Derrick Henry would be a great choice for the cover as he's coming off of a 2,000-yard season and an Offensive Player of the Year award.
If we look at the last couple of Madden cover athletes (Lamar Jackon, Patrick Mahome), it is clear that EA Sports loves to pick young up and coming QBs who just had breakout seasons. Josh Allen is a fan favorite, and he's a young quarterback coming off of an impressive season. Don't be surprised if Josh Allen is on the Madden 22 cover.
Aaron Donald was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for 2020. It was his third time winning the honor. Since Richard Sherman in Madden 15, no defensive player has been on the Madden cover. If any kind of new defensive feature is announced for Madden 22, what better player to be on the cover than Aaron Donald?
