Following our release on where to buy MT 2K22, the highest overall player and the best three-point shooter, coming up is the rookie of the year list.
2K Games has revealed the player ratings given to the most notable rookies in the 2021 draft class. The ratings have not put out a surprise, with Detroit Pistons' Cade Cunningham the highest-rated rookie in the game, with the guard being rated an 80 overall. On that note, here's a look at the five highest-rated rookies in NBA 2K22:
Cade Cunningham
• Team: Detroit Pistons
• Overall Rating: 80
The Detroit Pistons are well aware that in Cade Cunningham, they have a future star looking to make an immediate impact in the NBA.
The No. 1 overall pick bounced back from a shaky debut with two 20-plus-point performances (he sat out of Detroit's last two games with calf soreness). He averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals on 42.9% from the field across three games. A 40% 3-point shooter at Oklahoma State, Cunningham had no trouble adjusting to the NBA line, hitting 50% of his 26 attempts from beyond the arc. A majority of his field goal makes came from deep and off strong drives to the rim.
Cade Cunningham is the best player in his class, based on his offensive game, leadership, and the fact that he has a range of weapons in his arsenal he is confident to use. Cunningham can finish at the rim, pull in regular jumpers, and put in the occasional three. He is an elite passer who has, until now, been the leader and the major ball handler in all his teams.
Jalen Green
• Team: Houston Rockets
• Overall Rating: 79
The Houston Rockets' No. 2 pick Jalen Green is also the second-highest rated rookie in the NBA 2K22 game.
Green showed signs of a future prolific scorer, pouring in 20.3 points per game on 51.4/52.5/92.9 shooting splits. What makes those numbers even more staggering is the amount of self-created, tough jumpers he knocked down.
He has the ability to score from anywhere on the court, can finish through contact, and is an expert at quick shooting and making space for himself and his teammates. Green's offensive game looks good.
Unfortunately, his Summer League came to an end after two-plus games due to a hamstring injury. Nevertheless, the Rockets must be thrilled with what they saw from the No. 2 picks, and he could challenge Cade Cunningham this season for the 'rookie of the year' award.
Evan Mobley
• Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
• Overall Rating: 78
The ratings for NBA 2K22 are out, and Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Evan Mobley received a rating of 78.
Mobley is quick for his size, is arguably the best defender in his rookie class, and is an efficient scorer who has the ability to catch fire. He is already an elite rim protector and has an interior shot that will only improve with time. He is not a good three-point shooter but has the physical presence to dominate opponents, which he will only improve.
In one season with the University of Southern California Trojans, the Southern California native averaged 16.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
Jalen Suggs
• Team: Orlando Magic
• Overall Rating: 77
Considered one of the four elite prospects from the 2021 class, Jalen Suggs was picked by the Magic with their fifth overall pick.
Suggs is a quick, athletic guard with an immense basketball brain and top-notch passing prowess. His overall shooting can sometimes be erratic, especially from a distance. However, that is something he has a lot of time to work on.
Suggs averaged 15.2 points, and 6.3 rebounds per game before a thumb injury sustained in the middle of his third game forced him to shut it down.
Scottie Barnes
• Team: Toronto Raptors
• Overall Rating: 76
The Toronto Raptors were surprised by picking the fourth overall pick of the 2021 NBA draft, Scottie Barnes. However, NBA 2K has given Barnes a rating of 76, which puts him fifth in his class.
Barnes is a versatile guard with a huge wingspan and is considered a unique prospect this year. He is an able defender who knows how to use his body and is an elite playmaker capable of hitting out passes and finishing moves in transition.
Barnes averaged 15.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game, showing off the fact that he can impact the game in multiple ways on both offense and defense with a confidence that belies his age.
NBA 2K22 hits consoles on Sept. 10, 2021. Those rookies will have a better performance in the new season, and please look forward to it!
